Are you experiencing a winter weather advisory?

United States

Awakening to a blanket of newly fallen snow and weather reports of many school closings and delays, we are once again under a winter weather advisory. It seems that Mother Nature is exerting her control of our weather as there seems to be weather advisories coming out all over the United States at this time. With many southern states seeing snow for the first time in a long time, it appears that we just need to learn that we are not in control of certain aspects of our lives. What is the weather like where you are? Will you be glad to see the current season end? I will be glad to see spring arrive!

WE have about 2 inches on the ground right now. i have a feeling that we will be getting out of school/work early today. i am positive they will keep the kids through lunch in order to make it enough of a day that we do not need to make it up at the end of the year, but most of the buses were 10 to 15 minutes late today and that as with only about an inch on the ground. Our rural routes, it was blowing and drifting horribly.

The schools here missed so many days due to snow and now they are having to make up several days at the end of the year. It is sad but it is the way that stuff is.

We just got the official email, and the school reach message that school will be dismissing at 2:20 today, in order to make sure that the students get home in a safe and timely manner. I knew it was going to happen. I just wish that today had been a day off. I have so much I need to get done, and most of it is stuff at home.

We have been upgraded to a winter storm warning here in the northeast--another 10 inches at least, starting this afternoon. We still are covered in snow from the 26 inches we received 2 weeks ago, and then the 5-6 inches we (unexpectedly) received 4 days ago. And I am in NJ, not up in Maine somewhere! I am already DONE with winter and can't wait for Spring to arrive.

I keep talking to my aunt who lives in new York, mid state level, and she keeps getting called to say that where she is subbing is closed. She is retired so it is not that big a deal to her.

I think that many of us are glad to see spring here although was it not snowing there last week? I am tired of the rain too!

I am ready for Spring too. I am tired of snow and ice as I have been battling it back and forth to work for going on three days straight now. There is also a shortage of salt here and the state has declared a state of emergency. It's not as bad here as it is further south but it's still worse than what I would like to be dealing with.

It does seem as though many places were running out of salt this year. I do not know if they aren't planning as well or if they just do not figure enough money in the budget.

We're just north of Atlanta here with 5-6" of snow..which is a good 5 1/2" more than Atlanta knows how to deal with and that topped by freezing rain and the city all but fails..Granted, its not nice but this ol' Cincy Ohio boy does chuckle at it all.. Tho this ol' boy does feel the cold worse I can still thrill at the thought of the snow, with a heavy dose of nostalgia thrown in until the present reality of it gets into the bones and I race for the heat of the apartment..As for looking forward to spring..and the warm..AND the hayfever (shrug). Anymore every season has its own gotcha waiting for me..ENJOY!

I have had to deal with allergies alot more the last two years than ever before and I am truly not sure why. I believe that the whole allergy thing has something to do with the way that the environment has changed over the years.

I was lucky. In my teens and twenties I loved to hear the forecast of snow! I live in Minnesota. I drove the horse driven sleigh, skied and rode snowmobile! Snow was wonderful! My dad and uncle removed any of the snow that "was in the wrong place". I never had to worry about leaking roofs, cars that wouldn't start, or anything else. I was to just have fun! For some reason God said you shall afford week long, care free ski trips. Then you get married and have kids. Responsibility sucks.

It does sound like you enjoyed the snow. We have horse drawn buggies but no sleigh. However, that would certainly make the snow more enjoyable. If only the temps outside could be warm enough that I wanted to go out and play. I guess we just can't be satisfied, huh? Anyway, I agree with you about the added responsibility that we have as adults.

Im living in the south part of texas since i moved down here i've never seen a snow anywhere here in this area but its pretty cold today we've got 30degress below and wish we can expreince some snow here sometime. According the weather forecast we might get a snow sometime of this week but who knows they can always predict of what going to happen they said that last year and it never happen..too bad i missed the snow :)

I would like to live somewhere that it never snows, but my husband enjoys the snow so there is no way that he would go for that. I am an island girl, if I had my way.

It's nice that you were not to get as many inches as the other places were.

I am not sure what the weather report has said for today, but there is a blanket of snow outside. I can't wait for the spring either, I love the snow and winter but I really wish that it would tank top and flip flop weather. I'm going to be savign up and every once in awhile treating myself to a new article of clothing, and I plan to buy spring clothing as I don't have enough of that!

I rarely ever get new clothes, but I will be glad to see spring get here. I just do not like the cold. 80 degrees and sunny is perfect!

We have been having a weird winter as well....but the opposite of you. Normally, we have lots of snow by now.....but instead we have nearly none. There had been odd weather happening all over North America lately.

Good thing we're not experiencing it here. At least not yet but please God just keep the weather as it is here. I wouldn't wait for summer just yet. Summers here are too hot. Last summer my apartment turned into a large microwave. Staying inside for a long period of time will cook you.

It hasn't been as warm here in the summer as it has in the past. I am not sure why that is but I would take some really warm weather right now.

Hello, it is coming here in Penna. near Philadelphia. I work two jobs today and tomorrow. I may take during the day job tomorrow and take a vaccation day. The other one is part time and if I do not show I do not get paid! They are expecting 4-8 inches in our area starting around 4:00pm today. I will putt putt my way home. I get off at Midnight and then I will shovel and go to bed and see what happens from there. Stay safe out there and drive slowly. Thanks and have a great day! Sincerely Unique16

It does make it hard to get to work and school when it snows a lot or when we get an ice storm.

I hate this weather -winter time predictions was always inaccurate everytime they predict that 60 % snowing or flurries after a day no snow which I have to ride a bus don't want to drive kinda risky to drive. Now this morning they said it will snow so I need to ride a bus and skytrain to my place just to get by in my work. It takes too long to wait for that bus to arrive so makes me fiss off what else. sorry about my languages but really I hate winter time. Hard to drive and walk and my kids having a hard time walking thru school and going home.
