I have about 120 interests on here. Yet if I hit the ( see more discussions ) button under the discussions from my interest section I only have to go to page 5 to find stuff that's over a month old. Odviously not many people are posting new stuff in my interests. Am I that booring? Do I need to branch out into more fields? How many mylot interesets do you have? Are they very active ones?

I had tons of interests that I cleaned up last week! Why would I want to talk about pizza? But that was one interest. Lots of stuff like that was there and now I have just one page and might get rid of some of those. My main postings are under life, frugal living, pets, politics and cooking. What do I need with all the others!? I'm kept too busy with notifications and other work that I have going to do much looking in my interests. I used to browse through them in the evenings but Gus has decided that after he gets his dinner at 4:30-5pm it's time for me to stop working and spend time with them in the living room! You have not been harassed until Gus gives you the whiny, muzzle on knee harassment!

Most of my activity on here is either responding to my friends discussions or from the discussions from my interest section of my home page. With not much coming in from my interests & a very limited friends list there's not much going on.

I'm rather new here, but I've noticed that ordering the discussions by time of creation doesn't seem to work very well. Sometimes I browse 4-5 pages, get discussions that are one month old, browse 2-3 more pages and get discussions that are a few days old, and which I haven't seen yet. This only happens to me when browsing by interest; if I use the "new" or "recent" options, everything is ok. By the way, there's no way your interests are boring, especially if you have so many. I mean, I find it hard to believe that you chose 120 interests because they're all related to stamp collecting - and I know no other hobby that boring.

You haven't heard anyone discuss it because it's that Booooorrrring. You walk around a lawn , swat a stationary ball with a stick, walk some more. Yawn

I don't think I've ever had a discussion with anybody about golf - online or in real life - so I can't tell if it's boring or not... I don't play either, and I don't think I know a lot of people who do. On the other hand, I think they made a couple of Hollywood movies about golfing, so it can't be that bad.

No, it doesn't mean that the interest is boring.People just don't have what to say on that particular topic.Sometimes you run out of ideas. It happens with each of us.Some interests require knowledge or you even have to be an expert in that field to write a reply.I've noticed that the most popular are make extra money, life, love, mylot, religion.Haven't tried computers and internet, and cooking, I believe that food or cooking can be one of the leading interests too.

Yea, I don't mess with the make extra money one, They're usually just "How do I get more referrals?" or "How do I get more people to my site?" ...no thanks. Life is one of my interests already as is Mylot & religion food & cooking. Those seem to be the ones I see the most in. But it's still not a lot.

I changed my strategy : every time I respond to a discussion that is not in my interest list, I join it. I even joined "politics" yesterday, an "interest" that I hate because I worked too many years for politicians. Maybe I was wrong : the author of this discussion that made me join "politics" wants to neg neg neg today . I prefer interests followed by a little number of members than large ones : you can take your time to respond, the discussions are often better, and you make more closer friends in those "small" interests.

There's quite a few I get dragged into that I'd rather NOT have on my interest list though.

When I became a member of mylot, i chose many interests also. I do see discussions in some of them. But I have been simply going to the top discussions of the day and responding to these. In the top discussions of the day, i find that many have similar interests as i do. I go into my interest when I want to start a discussion.

Hi there uath13!!! I actually have 146 interests on my profile.Although I don't visit all of them,I am still trying to be active in two of my interests. This two were mylot and earning money. From what I have noticed here in mylot, the topic that is most discussed here is about money.Well this is only based on my experience, meaning it doesn't apply to all. In my opinion I think you should try looking for topics under money or earning money coz many people nowadays are interested with finding ways on how to earn extra money. Most of the time I stay on this interest and answer many new questions.I think you should try it..

I'm not interested in the whole making money online thing. I'm here for the discussions. The money is only a bonus.

Well, I for one have a lot of different interests in which I respond back too or choose to start discussions in. Some of these get a lot of discussions starts in while others have very few. I think a lot of it is stemming back to whether or not it is a seasoned vet on here, or someone new and if the topics of interest are ones others here are interested in responding back too. Also might depend on the time of day that the discussion is started, etc. But if it is in a Topic you really feel inspired to want to post something about maybe in time people like you starting more discussions there could broaden that topic more as well.
