If God is one then Why hundreds of religions???Im strongly against religion because Religion itself is a discrimination in the name of God.Leaving aside the violence that religion has caused, i feel religion just creates indiferrence, sometimes hatred among the people. If Jesus bless the christians..Will he not bless the hindus or the muslims because they worship different form of God??Will allah not bless the buddhistts?

I think that there are hundreds of religions because there are people who made their own opinion established. They managed to convince people about what their religion believes. I do not know where the word religion started. I think is was derived from other language. When the population of a set of believers increases, they will call and treat it as a religion. That is how I see it.

The definition of religion is: a set of beliefs concerning the nature, cause, and purpose of life and the universe. It has nothing to do with belief in a god or gods. You can have a religion without a belief in a higher power. Religions per se started with the ancients and with tribal peoples trying to explain the mysteries of the world around them. They grew into forms of control. The powerful entities used it to control the uneducated and frighten them into doing what they were told to do. Look at the world today...it is still being done. "The end of the world is COMING" "Be Afraid" "The End Times Are Here" That is all you hear now.

Fortunately I do not believe in the christian descrition of the end times...They took the book of Daniel which was written for and about his own time and rewrote it into their own book about the end times. This is pure and simple a book to control people and frighten them into believeing as they wish them to.

Hi jimmythangjam, I don't know where the word religion itself came from but the whole idea of God or Gods came out of fear. Many millions of years ago, early man was frightened by such things as thunder and lightning and natural disasters such as earthquakes etc. They felt that some great Supermen lived above the clouds, and caused such things to happen because they were angry with humans. Religion started when our ancestors began trying to appease these supermen or Gods, as they came to be known, by offering sacrifices and worshiping them in other ways. To answer your question I would have to say yes. We are all one and religion is not important. What really matters is how we live our life. If we want others to love us, we too must love. If we want respect, we must show respect. We are all here for a purpose and must learn to live together in peace, helping one another regardless of religion or lack of it. I am not religious but spiritual. Blessings.

I have no idea how the word got started. I'm personally not a religious person at all. I don't understand what you mean by religion just creates indifference. If anything, I'd say that it creates anything but indifference.

The word religion is derived from the Latin word religion. According to philologist Max Muller the word religion originally expressed "reverence for God or the Gods”. However, ancient religion originally depicted only law". In Hinduism the meaning of the word Dharma is more or less synonymous with the word religion. In Buddhism however, it means the universal truth. There are different religions because everyone has viewed the truth differently. Whatever they have viewed is the truth but they are not willing to see other's point of view therefore the religion has created an indifference and hatred among the people.

Indeed, starting from Abraham to Jesus is a history or series of stories full promise of Abraham was fulfilled by Jesus. but that is considered pasaip is after promise was fulfilled what the Lord works. . Because of his Judaism and Christianity follow the main story is the Jewish nation so that it points that the Jewish religion are a nation of choice. But somewhat different from his early Islam where she grafting Jewish history but in the end he was hostile to this nation and even spelled Pagan? But back to the same cessation of Islam in Arabia so down arab nations are the chosen people so that all the attributes of Arab culture is considered sacred dab. Similarly Javanist religion, stating that the center of civilization is the land of Java and the Javanese are the chosen people, this is also happening at the other local religions,
