Hello fellow mylotters....just wanted to get some comforting words of encouragement for my husband. He will be having gall bladder surgery and boy is he FREAKING out. He has never had any kind of surgery which means he has never had any type of anesticia so he is really nervous. I remind him that I myself have had this done and everything came out ok with me. Any suggestions on how I can make him feel more at ease...thanks

I had my gall bladder out a few months ago after a gall bladder attack that lasted fourteen hours. I went to the emergency room in the middle of the night and they didn't do the surgery until late afternoon. A gall stone the size of an olive was stuck in the opening to my gall bladder causing all that pain. Let him know the surgery is much easier than a gall bladder attack and even though you're sore for a week afterwards it's well worth having it done.

As you yourself has undergone it, you can very well be a living testimony that it is now a very easy surgery. The doctors themselves can assure him that it will just be fine. They will do that before his anesthesia , don't they?
