I can't remember who mentioned Ebay to me, but whoever it was THANK YOU! Yes, folks, yesterday I managed to sell my unwanted, unused Slow Cooker on Ebay so I am now nearly £30 better off. John is off work next week so he can take me to the Post Office tomorrow in order to dispatch it. I'm so chuffed! I've NEVER been able to sell anything on Ebay before but the secret is..DON'T use the BUY IT NOW option but let people bid on it instead. I did this and it's worked. Now then..what else can I sell?

Congratulations on your sale. I've used eBay for a few items, but I've sold more locally on Craigslist. Have you heard of it/used it? Anyway, when I do eBay, I always auction and sometimes when I have something really valuable, I'll put a reserve on it. I won't let some items go for a low-baller.

One thing I didn't do was have the boxed item weighed BEFORE listing it, so I was going off what other people's p & p was. I charged £6.50 and it ended up being over £11! I've still made money (and the item itself was a present) so I can't complain. The lady in the Post Office told me, if I ever have anything else to sell, to come by and she will gladly weigh it for me, so I have a better idea of delivery charges.

Yeah, the postage is always what got me...so I ended up losing money. I even weighed stuff before establishing the postage and handling fee and when I'd actually ship, the cost was higher. (And that doesn't count the gas, etc. to drive into town (20 miles) to weigh the item...) That's why I rarely, now, sell stuff that has to be shipped. I'm glad you still made money...

I am glad you were sucessful. My husband just tried selling an old record on and was not lucky no one bidded. I was hopeful cause 6 were watching but no one bid and they could have had a sweet deal if bid at last min cause the min was 5 dollars. I am going to try and sell a few more things and see if I am lucky.

I'm pleased that you are not giving up. I once tried selling a 3-in-1 jacket but I was asking far too much for it, so, not surprisingly, it didn't sell. I don't think I chose the Bid option either, which was a mistake, I realise now. I wish you luck with anything else you try to sell on ebay!

The main reason I sold it was that it took far too much room up under the sink (still in its original box) and I had no intention of using it..so Derek, right here on MyLot, told me to sell it on Ebay. He told me to use the bidding option and not Buy It Now, so I followed his advice and it sold. I'm so chuffed it's out of the house so someone else can use it. There's nothing worse than having something that isn't useful to YOU but is to someone else. I'm starting to learn this more and more!

I love ebay. I've been selling on there for about 7 years or more on and off when I have things to sell. Christmas time is a great time to list things and have them sell better. For along time they had free insertion fees. That was awesome! That way I could list as much as I wanted and if it didnt sell I wasent losing out on any money. I listed so much for sale.

I'm pleased that you have found some success in selling on ebay. Good for you. Some people are addicted to the site, aren't they? Bit like MyLot lol. When I listed my item there was an offer of free gallery photographs. Normally, you have the main one free and have to pay for the rest. It was so weird because the offer was only on that day I listed the item. If I'd gone on any other day the offer wasn't there anymore. Call it "fate" if you like..or "luck." Jupiter (the Planet of Luck) is definitely kicking in already! It's about time!!

The Slow Cooker I sold was an unwanted Christmas present. There is no way I'm telling my SIL that I've sold it on Ebay though! Next time I see her I'll have to say I've not used it yet. I'd only upset her if she knew the truth! There again, if I did tell her she might stop buying me crap lol.

eBay is especially great right after Christmas, There is a lot of people who got presents ( lots of gift cards I noticed ) that they did not want and could not return them to the store so they simply list them on eBay and are happy with whatever they get. Both parties are happy in the end. I'm also a power seller on eBay so if anyone has any questions just ask away!

Ebay is really a wonderful thing isn't it? I have not used it all that much. Perhaps only a handful of times to be honest with you. Still when I have used it, I think it has paid off remotely as well as it sold some items at a profit. I think there is no real trick however, if it is something that people are interested in, they'll fight over it. Just sit back and enjoy the show.

Next time I'm at Mum's I shall bring a few books back with me, to sell on Ebay. She will be ecstatic if I can sell them because they're in drawers all around the house and annoy her somewhat!

Congratulations on your sale. I think it is fun to hear success stories. I do not sell on Ebay at this point. I do think it is good to clear things out and if you can get paid for it all the better.

Thanks. One half of me wants to sell some of my vinyl LPs but my other half says "no" as I have an emotional attachment to them. I suppose I could try to sell some of my CDs but most of those are at my Mum's! John has a load of videos and yes, we do still have a VCR as the telly is old and they play OK, funnily enough. I doubt if videos would sell though and we haven't got loads of DVDs anyway so that collection has a fair way to go to beat the vids!!

Well done Janey - doesn't it feel good? I once sold a couple of recliners on Ebay and was pleasantly surprised at the amount of money I got. The transaction was very smooth. Hmmm . . . now what else can I sell?

Haha! I'm the same, thinking about what else I can sell. One man's tat is another man's gold. I misinterpreted the postage but I've still gained as the item was an unwanted Christmas present, so ANYTHING was a bonus. It's money I wouldn't normally have so I'm grateful to the guy in paying for it so swiftly. I'm usually HOPELESS at selling anything so you're right, it DOES feel good my friend!

Congratulation on your sale! I've never even attempted selling anything, though with the amount of books I have, God knows I should start :)

That's a good idea! There are a few books at my Mum's house (I used to be in a book club) so I might bring some back here and try to sell them. Mum's always begging me to lol.

Congratulations on your successful listing! I've been trying to sell stuff myself too but eBay Philippines doesn't have as much traffic than other eBays. Sometimes, I'm just thinking of doing a garage sale, lol. Anyway, good luck with your future listings!

A garage sale sounds like a great idea to me! My in-laws have a garage full of stuff. I think they should have one as well. Good luck with whatever option you choose my friend.

Congratulations dear! I was able to sell one article of clothing in ebay. The feeling of selling something is exhilarating. I'm actually planning on importing stuff in order to sell it online. I'm just raising the capital for it. I love buying in ebay though. I'm kind of a bum and I hate walking around the whole day just to shop, so I'm mighty glad that I can just look for stuff in ebay and buy them. It's great! Don't forget to leave a feedback for your buyer! That's what's great about ebay. Feedback is very important so you could assess what people think of an ebayer. Goodluck :)

I wish I could take the credit but unfortunately it was not me. Wow, congrats to you that is exciting. So I want to do the same, is it so there is now a membership of some sort?? I do have a few things I wish I could get rid of.

Yes, you just register with them and I was paid via PayPal, which was already set up due to me being with MyLot anyway, so it all went smoothly. I don't normally have luck like that so I'm well chuffed (pleased)! I know what I was doing wrong with Ebay. It was pointed out to me that the bidding system is better than Buy It Now. That way you get more people interested in the product.

That's great! Congrats! I am a huge fan of Ebay too :) And to answer your question... you can sell almost anything there. You won't believe what some people are willing to buy!

Hi, I used to sell on ebay but then realised how much money is taken of for posting, paypal fees and also ebay final sale fees from your price. Congratulations though and if you are going to keep selling things you can get a wee leaflet from the post office that tells you all the posting weights and prices including sending items abroad and sending items recorded delivery. There is also an option in paypal to print your own stamps, its really easy you just weigh your item, put in the weight into the paypal account and print it out, you will then have 24 hours to post it. I found this really useful when I was selling alot as the money comes off your paypal account so you don't have to take it out of your bank.
