Do you start discussions and they reply to discussions about a week later

I have started a few discussions and will be answering those discussions that i have started at the weekend, as that way i will have i hope more time than week time todo a better response.I also answer really old discussions that people have started as i know that they will not be deleted.I have found loads of peoples discussions from say a year ago that are really great and i do not mind if i never get a response from the people that started them, as they were really interesting discussions as well as helpful.

No. I consider discussions on myLot to be like offline conversations and if I start one I follow it up there and then. I don't feel that a discussion needs an 'answer' but it needs opinions and therefore I like to deal with it when it is fresh. I then comment on later responses as soon as they arrive too, time permitting. Of course we each have our own way of doing things but if I have no time to comment and further the topic then I prefer not to start a discussion.

I am the same as when I think about starting a discussion, I always make sure that I know I am going to be logged in for some time to out of courtesy contribute back and to continue the discussion as you say to further. Besides what is the point of asking for help and or advice and not responding back.

Well to me it doesn't matter if they can reply early or not, As i am having slow connection so i don't come everyday. But i do check once in a while what i have posted and replied so i may know other opinion as well. I can come here in mylot just reading and it can make me feel good having the ideas of others on certain things.

I don't start a new discussion if I know that I won't be able to use the internet the next couple of weeks, because I want to be able to read the responses and comment on them relatively fast. I don't always comment the same day or the next day, but I try to return to the discussion within a couple of days or a week. Sometimes it takes me longer, it depends on my other activies. Some of the old discussions are interesting, and every once in while I respond to an old discussion. If I find the topic interesting, I don't mind if I don't get a comment. Sometimes the person who started thé discussion is no longer active and in those cases I am not likely to get a comment, but I still enjoy writing about an interesting topic.

When I start a discussion I divide my time in myLot into two halves. I keep some time for responding to discussions that my friends started. I keep the other half to reply to my own discussions. Now sometimes no people come to my discussion to respond (though that would be the rarest of rare case) and I need to ask friends to come over and respond. In such a situation I focus more on responding to others' discussions. Sometimes however, my discussions get responses as many as 50-70 each. So if I leave it for the weekend the task may be overwhelming. So I do reserve some of my time to respond and comment do my own discussions, especially when it gets huge responses. It lifts the burden from your shoulders.

No, when I start a discussion I make sure that I am going to be logged in to tend to them as soon as the responses come in. Then I follow up with it daily to make sure that I respond to members as they come in as sometimes I might start a discussion today and some members will not be logged in until a day or two later but as soon as the responses come in I contribute back as necessary. Although it is never too late, as let's say you start a discussion today and member interact with my discussion 8 months later as soon as I get the alert I make sure to respond. Just like mysd stated above, like off-line life if I speak to my friends I do not go away for a week later to respond to them, of course unless there was an emergency of some kind.

You never know which of your discussions is going to get flooded with responses. If you get over 50 comments it may take really long time to respond 'through' the discussion. So it's better to start early.

Hi biswa, Absolutely, I always take that into consideration also, as we just never know. There are times when a discussion has only generated few responses in one day then I come back the next day and it is flooded. Still though, no time limits at all, I do have friends who at times cannot get back to the discussion for weeks on end that is okay too. There really is no time limit. I suppose it would be an issue for members who start discussions, then never come back at all, as they feel that starting discussions and receiving responses earns them. LOL.

I find nothing wrong with responding back to older discussions, as well as people taking time to respond back to discussions that I might have started a long time ago as well. I have a lot of different discussions that I have started so in reality there are probably a lot even my closest friends here have never responded back too. And unless they are no longer relevant it is interesting to see what others here have to say as well.

When I create a discussion I try to reply to all the comments that were left on my discussion. Sometimes its hard though and since sometimes I cant think of anything more to say then thanks... then I dont leave them a reply at all since mylot does not want us to just thank people for commenting on our discussion they want us to try to keep the discussion going. Saying thank you doesnt keep the discussion going. I try to respond back as soon as I can but yes sometimes I will get very busy and will not be able to respond back as soon as I would like.

hi joystick its so much fun when you start a new discussion to go check if you can to see how many responses you got then start commenting b ack and whats really great is when you see a response then one or two or three comments on that response as you have really started a discussion and it now going full tilt I try to keep up with mine every day or so but like others sometimes I have to keep a doctors appointment and cannot get back at once.also we really should all comment back to the responses we get on our discussions as the comments from us and then comments on our comments are what makes it all so much fun.

I also feel that it´s not that easy to keep up with it, no matter how rewarding it is. The older I get, the slower I am. //&%$ I try though.

Yes, this seems to be the case more often than not. That's okay though, at least the discussions are still getting some responses, and that is good, because it adds to the topic. I answer a lot of old discussions too, because I often put a lot of thought into what I have to say, and I don't want to have my answer deleted. Also, it is abiding with the rules, because we are suppose to research old discussions before posting new ones, which will help to avoid duplicates...so it is all good.

For me, I usually respond to discussion regardless of when it was posted. For as long as I found it interesting and I know I can share more to that issue, I would post a reply to it. And the same with what happens sometimes in my posted thread. If I post a thread, and someone upfront post a comment or response, I do respond to it right away except if there's unavoidable reasons. But I see to it to check it from time to time to acknowledge efforts of my respondents. Most of the time, I still could see responses from an old posts, but still they found it interesting to respond to so why not appreciate it, right? Someone exerted effort to respond so for me it always have to be acknowledged.

I try to answer soon but sometimes it is just not possible. And sometimes I get an answer to my posts a long time after I made it. I do that too (answer good discusions even after a long time, except if I see that the person who started the discussion is no longer active. I always hope I´ll have feedback for what I write, good or bad.

Hi joystick!. I usually put reply to my discussion as a priority than replying others discussion but there is time I am not in the mood to do it. So I reply it after few day and I hope the responder don't mind with thats. Luckily I am not to often making discussion so I don't abandon my discussion and I will try to respond all of responder. I like others reply to my response in their discussion and I will do the same, I think thats what made it a discussion.

i hardly start discussions nowadays... i prefer to respond more because i'm afraid i won't have the time to comment on the responses to my discussions and offend the responders... it is better to respond anyway because i learn a lot from other people's discussions and i never receive many responses anyway when i start a discussion... take care and have a nice day...

Yes, I also respond t discussions that have been made even 3 years ago when I really like that discussion. And like you, i usually comment to those the respond in my discussions on weekends so I can do all of them.

I think there is no time limit for your to respond to a discussion, you can take your time to reply to your friend's discussions. But for me I will make it as soon as possible because I believe that people will forget about what kind of discussion they have started. Prompt reply is better and sometime people are waiting for your respond and it is not nice for people to wait for too long.
