Snakebites.

I have been considering getting snakebites. I don't mean actually getting bitten by a snake, though. Snake bites are two piercings on each side of your bottom lip. With that said, I would like to know if getting snakebites hurts or not. I've seen some videos of people having it done, and it didn't look like it hurt too much, but I don't really know whether it didn't or if they were just sucking it up. If you could give me some information on these piercings, it would be greatly appreciated. :)

I don't want to dictate because I don't have a piercing, although when I was younger, I had a safety pin in my ear. I wore two studs at one point. But a couple of years ago, I lost a stud, and just let my remaining ear piercing heal over. As to the "snakebite" piercing...I can't say whether it will hurt or not, but I feel it might, because the skin of the lips is incredibly tender. I'm no medical expert but from what I understand, the lips/mouth area is more than just skin; it's part skin; and part mucous membrane (which doesn't have the tough coating of normal skin); and therefore I would personally say the inner part of the lips is very very sensitive indeed. Speaking, eating may be temporarily affected and as the mouth is such a vital part of a person's presentation of self, I'd not want that to be swollen and sore, even if only temporarily; but then that's just me; it's not for me to dictate as I say; and I'm no longer as young as I was; young people are much more resilient than me. However...to get an infection of the ear is bad enough, but of the mouth? Ouch! But then I am sure they are very rare; and two lips piercings may pass without event; and I am being unnecessarily alarmist. I cannot say for sure. I'd say...think seriously about it. Do you really want it? Because it's quite a commitment. If it were me I'd not risk it, but then I'm a bit chicken. My advice would be...get in touch with some professional piercers; and have a real deep chat with them. They will be able to help you. All the very best of luck!

i agree before you get the piercing... pinch that area where you want to get pierced if it hurts... just double the amount of hurt you'll experience when it gets pierced. it'll only be a moment of hurt though. and then triple it during the healing period and if it gets infected... well you might as well multiply the pain 10 times hehehe but self expression is an art, and art is painful

Yes, that's a good analogy. Lip piercing seems too painful an art by far for me though!

i have snake bites done and for me it didnt really hurt at all. then again ive had many piercings done. i also have a high pain tolerance. when u do get them make sure the placement of them is good. dont want the jewelry to eventually make your gums recede.
