Hey I thought it would be interesting for guitar players to gather around this discussion and share some of your experiences, for example the first time you went out on stage, where, and how? What guitars or guitar do you use or recommend? Do you prefer electric or acoustics? For example just recently I have found out about iphone/ipod/ipad apps for guitar players. Apps like Ampkit and Amplitube have really caught my attention. So in this discussion, all you have to do is share! Happy LOTTING!!!!

I started playing on-stage as a bassist. Most dudes from my band thought that bass is meant to be simple, but I kinda' loved riffing on my bass.I can play a little bit of guitar and drums, but not as good as bass.I use SX bass, which is really cheap and affordable, and changed the pickups to Tesla Jazz Bass Pickups made in Korea.Sounds like fender.I've been using VST plugins as well, mostly Amplitube with Ampeg plugins.Makes my bass sounds much better.

hey, good for you, I think that if you can play bass you can play guitar and vice versa. About amplitube, if I want to use it on my PC do I have to get an audio interface to be able to use it on a regular sound card?

An audio interface is not really necessary, but that is required to produce better quality sounds.Like mine,I'm using on-board Realtek HD,just make sure that you have line-in input in your pc.Usually, the setup that I used is plugging the bass into the line-in and let the sounds go through the line-out to the input of my bass amp.

Interesting, I haven't tried that yet. I'm thinking that I have the problem configuring my ASIO driver settings and my RIG 4 settings. Are you using ONLY Realtek HD Driver or ASIO4ALL and the Realtek HD driver?

I first went out onstage as an actor when I was a kid at school. Then I went out onstage as a singer, fronting a hard Rock band. I loved it, and I had great rapport with the audience. I first went out onstage as a guitarist I think in a series of bands; I liked being part of bands. But I was really more of a singer. That should have been my destiny: front man. But I also wanted to act. I have also performed as a solo artist with acoustic guitar; but I've never been comfortable with this, because I'm technically not a musician; I'm really a singer/entertainer. I use an acoustic guitar; and electric (white Stratocaster Squier). I prefer the electric, but I don't play either much these days. I'd like to get back into it, and grow more as a player; and singer-songwriter. Here are some of my songs; some like them; many don't; they're very poorly recorded I'm afraid: http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=carl+halling&aq=f

Yep. I have to agree that being part of a band is really fun. I also have a purple strat. And I really love it + a Taylor acoustic . :)

i started out as a drummer didn't do too well behind the kit but i realized i could somehow carry a tune so off i went to singing in front and then i got interested in the bass cause it had really manly strings on it unlike the guitar with it's teeny weenie strings so i learned that and collected a small array of bass guitars including a rickenbacker and a fender jazz 79 when my guitarist quit, i stepped up to guitars, took lessons and hit the stage as a guitarist fronting a 3 piece band meaning i cast myself into the fire even if i had only a few lessons needless to say, before we went up, i was chucking up loads behind the stage because i was nervous the crowd was composed of hardcore heavy metal fans and i was leading a hard rock band with classical jazz influence we got up onstage played through our set and received a warm applause apparently the metalheads were tired of having their ears blasted with deafening music and appreciated the softer music my band offered

Hey I've always wanted to play drums when I was little and would bang on anything and everything with whatever I could find. But I grew up and somehow I began playing guitar, it was pretty easy for me to learn, I didn't take lessons but rather self-taught and I've gotten pretty good (I think). Maybe someday I'll get my hands on a drum set and learn to play that as well. So how long have you been playing guitar?

I've been playing guitar since I was 14 that have been 15 years now. I din't practice too often and I play only once a while so my guitar skills, I considere, not up to that 15 years playing experiences. My first time take on the stage is when I was 15 but that time I was singing not playing guitar. If playing guitar, I think when I was 19. It was for church dinner. I preferred to used electric guitar though. But an acoustic guitar is okay for me as long the guitar use size 9 strings set. My favorite guitar is Ibanez. Why? Because it is cheap and affordable and the sound is great and have a good feel when played.

I love playing the guitar, been playing it for about 10 years now. The best brand is Bunker Guitars. I love the sound and amplitude it gives off. Amplitude is a great app use it and it sounds so great if you have good speakers.

Hey, do you have some static at times?? I have some static and I don't know where it's coming from. I was thinking that maybe its the charger cable giving off the static (since this app drains battery so much if you're playing through headphones) but the static is still there when I disconnect the cable. I have no clue where its coming from and it's driving me crazy! Do you have any ideas? Oh and have you heard about Rig 4 for PC, do you use it?

Hey! I think when I started really getting into performing I started small with a few friends at my church and the rush was just awesome, while it wasn't the music I personally wanted to play it was still fun to share in the community of being in a band. I use a Fender Standard American strat and just love the sounds I can get out of it. I also have iRig which is a part of Amplitube, it's a really great thing to have but after buying it I realized that they are going to charge you per each pedal you want. Kind of a lame thing for them to do. Oh well.

Yeah I know. It's better if you have a jailbroken iPod or iPhone. And I think you can get more effects from Ampkit app.
