I like to read novels. Horror novels are my favorite. Or novels where someone "finds" themselves such as "She's Come Undone" or "The Wife's Tale"

Dear Friend In my opinion , you can go for a book on motivation as this is required at all levels , especially among youngsters. samaritan123

I usually read romance novels. I like mystery novels too but I don't read them quite as often. I'm getting ready now to start on the Twilight bandwagon lol. I had never heard of the books until the movie came out. So when the movie came out I wasn't nuts to see it even though I do kind of like vampire movies. I was going to just go rent the movies, but I decided to read the books instead first. I just started the first one but I didn't get very far yet. I don't get much time to read with 3 kids and 3 pets lol.

I would say that it depends on your target readers. I started reading books when I was a student, i think I was already 15 that time. I remember it was Sweet Dreams pocket books, these are fiction teen age love story. After a finishing a few, I didn't like it anymore, I switched to Mills & Boon. After sometime, I lost interest because i finished it so easily, I tried novels, historical romance, I enjoyed it very much that i finished one book shelf in my cousin's library during one summer vacation. I was such a voracious reader then. After a year or two I think, I changed interest again and I read all Stanley Gardner's books that I could find, Perry Mason's stories, now they are no longer in the market. When I can not find one anymore, I shifted to Robert Ludlum's books. When I reached 23 yrs of age, I lost interest in reading. My interest diverted into other activities. When I started to travel, I got interested with travel destinations books, travel guides. And now, at present for the last three years, I'm more into self help books, but not the paperback, I like reading ebooks. With my experience, I think it would be better to start to determine who your target readers are because I believe that people of different age have different interest. My niece 11years of age and my nephew 14 years of age started to read books and they are reading horror books.

I'm a fellow reader and writer and from experience I know novels tend to have more sale's in terms of genre there's no possible way of narrowing it down because a lot of genres are popular these day's and it's hard to find something original. I'd say try a different genre altogether do some different to what's typically selling who's knows maybe you'll end up setting a new kind of genre or series of fiction which other writers aspire to write like. Although statistics are against us as ever becoming a published writer who makes a good living of their work.
