A life of crime

With the recession and all have you ever considered going into a life of crime. Somehow it seems that drug dealers, con artists, swindlers, ect are making good money while people with jobs aren't really doing as well (not in all cases of course) if you had to would you go into something like dealing? Or have you ever been tempted to do so? Note: I am not asking if you do, did, or don't, or have ever done any of these. For legal reasons you might want to omit anything you are doing now,(if you are) that's your business not mine. Also I am not in anyway endorsing a life of crime. Seriously, don't do it. Trust me it doesn't end well. I'm just asking a question out of curiosity.

It seems that we really are living in a cruel world! The criminals and gangsters seem to get away with everything and the good, honest citizens seem to suffer when it should be the other way round. I think that everyone has probably entertained the thoughts of criminal activity within their own minds and I don't see anything wrong with this just as long as those thoughts are not materialised into physical reality! Thankfully I have never been tempted to commit a crime in order to get myself out of a sticky situation. I hope that I never stoop to this level as I would just be betraying my values and I think it would be the point of no return then! The closest I got to any kind of criminal activity was during my school years! I broke a mercedes sign off a car, that was the popular thing to do back then and I guess it was peer pressure in my case for fear of being rejected! I think that things should be turned around and the criminal element should be made to suffer a lot more and not constantly being given the niceties of televisions and games consoles in their prison cells! No, criminals are losers. Even leaving out the straightforward moral point that it's wrong to harm other people, every time you commit a crime you take a chance on getting arrested or worse. Being a habitual criminal is just like being a habitual gambler, sooner or later your luck will run out and you'll lose everything. Even if your extremely lucky and get away with it forever, you'll always worry about getting caught, so you'll never really be able to enjoy life.

No, I definitely, positively would not. But it might be interesting to have a relative or a godfather who heads a very large organization whose businesses are all illegal.

No way. It's just wrong. And 'making good money' at the expense of others? Just imagine if you're the one at the raw end of this deal. You're both just trying to get by, and he 'makes good money' at your expense? Just wrong.
