Is it ridiculous or alright for someone to decide the name of his/her baby via an opinion poll on facebook??
There is this office colleague of mine who had a baby boy a week ago. Apparently, they did not choose a name for their baby during his wife's pregnancy.
Now, they are in search of a nice and unique name for the little boy. And the father is holding opinion polls on facebook about what the baby name should be...
I find it very very funny cus at the end of the day, its his baby, he should be deciding the name of the child along with his wife. If required, he can always discuss this with his family. Why would someone use a social networking site to decide the name of their 1st child??? Isn't it funny?

I think people is just crazy about Facebook these days... I don't think I wuold do that if I was to name our baby.

One of my Sisters did that. Mostly, I think, she was trying to decide on how she wanted to spell her unborn daughter's name - Kristine or Christine - and was looking for feedback. Getting opinions from people you trust is never a bad thing and you always get the deciding vote. Like with her, most of the opinions I saw were for Christine but she ended up choosing Kristine in the end so it was still her decision.

Well, it's ok to create a poll about it on Facebook . . . at least they're being somewhat resourceful in finding ways to find a cool name. But ultimately it will be their decision regardless what the polls say anyway. I wouldn't have done it personally, but I'm just saying it's a fun way to get name ideas, I guess.

That sounds quite silly. I would never ever do that, because I think the parents should go for what they think is best, but to each their own I guess...

thats ridiculuos!! first i didnt know if there were such polls in facebook since am not an active user of facebook. i think its kidda stupid or crazy to hold such a poll. you should give your child a name which you have chosen yourself and not let anyone make that choice for you...or has democracy been extended to cover baby naming?
