When was the last time you went inside the library ? I was thinking of this since I passed by the library last Sunday.During college which was like 6years ago was the last time I ever went for some research in the city library. It was a pretty bad experience since it was supposed to be for our thesis and we weren't able to get much on the library because its very time consuming. We resorted to internet instead for faster research.I miss the smell of old books.I don't know how many people still prefer to go to the library, well internet has everything you need now..do you still go to the library for some research?or do you prefer the internet instead? have a great day everyone!

I go to the library for my fiction books. I'm a huge reader. I've gone to the library for research pretty often too. I actually prefer doing research at the library as opposed to on the internet. When I'm on the internet then all I find is a bunch of unspecific junk, but at the library I can really get what I'm looking for. I don't think it's horribly time consuming at all. Not anymore than surfing the net is at least.

That's another big downside of the internet... it's pretty darn distracting.

Its really different when you use internet and books.Sometimes when I research using the internet I get tempted doing other stuff like surfing other stuff.

I haven't been to a library for a while now, and I miss it in a way, but modern libraries just don't have that quaint charm I remember from my childhood, they look like offices...I prefer using the Internet for research and buying the books I really want (or borrowing them from friends). Actually, I'm planning to visit some used book shops sometime next week.

i miss going to a library as well. back in college, it's one of my hangouts. i just go there and sit. sometimes sleep. hehehe.. but most of the time, what i first do is read the daily paper and chill afterwards. it's quiet in there and i prefer that kinda place. i like going online too. i like it better actually especially when i need to research something.. we have computers in our library but it's being enclose so not disturb the people reading.. but i do my online research at home. i just go to the library because it's one of the nicest place in my school to do whatever i want without anybody noticing it.

I think the last time when I went to the library was when I was in college looking for information for my project. Since then, I haven't been to a library, when I need books, I mostly just go to the book store, I either stay in and read the book or really buy it. Besides that, I don't have any libraries around here so I don't go to the library anymore.

I was in college when last visited the library and can count on my fingers how many times I've been there. LOL! The internet indeed a very useful tool for research, most of the time I just refer to web or borrow books from my senior friends.

Same here Lance26,when I was in highschool I never really cared about the library but during college most paper works need references and a lot of sources.

The last time I went to the library was like 2 years ago, to bring my kids there to borrow some books. I borrowed 2 books to read myself but only managed to finish 1 book, hehe! I like reading but sometimes just couldn't find the time to do so. However, I do my research on the internet cause it's easier and faster that way.

Its good to expose kids to reading books..but for us its hard to do every now and then because we do a lot of things at home.Whenever we go to a bookshop we usually buy something to read and my son has established a thing for books even if he can't read he appreciates pictures from books.

Hi. tanyamean. I went to the library about two weeks ago. I had to drop off some library books that were torn up. I also love smelling old library books too. It makes me feel happy to just check out any book that I have an knack for reading.

Just this past summer i started going to the library on a regular basis again to check out books for my enjoyment. Though over the past few months i haven't made a trip (don't worry, i returned the books i had checked out first) but ath is only because i do not drive, i do all my errands by walking, so during the winter sometimes it is just too hard to convince myself that it is worth while to take a 20 minute walk in the sub zero temps just to get a book wheni have cable and internet at home. But in the summer my boyfriend and i make it a habit to walk to the library once per week to exchange our books and find something new and interesting to read, or even check out some movies!!

Hi tanyamean! Hmmm..Last 3 months since my last visit on our school library. It is just because my mother bought me a laptop so when i am doing my assignment I just connect it to our school wifi. I missed library a lot, specially those times when we read together with my friends whether it is all about research or just for fun. For me, books are still the accurate source of ideas and facts. It is true that internet nowadays can really answer every questions that comes up on your mind but we can't assure how true or accurate it is depending on the topic. Books are still the best because it was being reviewed many times before it was being published. Here in our city, we dont have city library so I miss books a lot.

The internet has invade everything..and we people love it but there are times when its always good to go back to basics and appreciate the fruit of pure effort. The internet is doing spoon feeding and we embrace it so much.

I love to read valuable books in the library. In the library only we will see the entire world. So my personal feeling is "love the library".

I still go to the library, but only to borrow books, and I read them at home. During my school years, I used to spent 5-6 hours per day in the library. I was thinking I might do that again sometime in the future, for a project I want to start working on this year. The Internet is great for finding information quickly, but nothing compares to a good book. And just like you, I like the smell of old books, and the quiet and nice librarian ladies.

Each week visit the library. I think the library is and will be a place of culture, a place where human need for knowledge can be made. The book in general and specialty book, in particular, is expensive and only few people and can afford, and that the library remains a place where "pro bono" (no money), you shall provide For a while, a book or two, even more,so you can inform, educate and to unwind, depends on the kind of book that every reader prefers. I think that without libraries, we would be poor, we have amputated wings of knowledge, and we become desensitized to the beauty.
