Sick coworkers...

So most everyone in my office now has been sick at one point or another throughout the winter. But there is one particular woman who recently started who is coughing like a storm and she does NOT cover her mouth very well when she does, or aim in a different direction, and to make things worse, she is constantly wanting to borrow stuff off my desk!! Since I just started also I have no sick days or vacation days, so I am trying like heck not to get sick myself. Today we had a big group lunch in the office and she was one of the first people to dish up and she coughed ALL OVER all the food that the whole office was sharing! YIKES!! Do I say something?? Avoiding her doesn't seem to be working! Hehehe...sorry to vent but sheesh!!

I think that is very rude of the woman. She should take other people into consideration when she is coughing. I know a lot of times, I walk into places and they will have signs saying to cover your coughs and sneezes and they provide masks and hand sanitizer for people to use. I remember when I was in chemo that any time I went out of my room I wore a mask so that I would be protected from germs because I was told that my immune system was weak. I wonder if there is a way you can inconspicuously leave a mask on this woman's desk in the morning and see if she gets the hint. You may want to carry some hand sanitizer and maybe have a mask yourself, just in case.

So true, you need to protect yourself first. I don't know if I could wear a mask at the office but there's lots of hand sanitizer here and I do wash my hands. So far just one mild cold this year so hopefully I'll be ok. :)

One other thing you could do is to keep some kind of antibacterial cleaner available for surfaces that you might come in contact with that she might have coughed on and clean those often as well. I'm sure that you will be ok!

Gross! That's really rude of her not to cover her mouth. I would not touch that food, I don't know about you. LOL. Use hand-sanitizer, wash your hands, and try to stay away from this girl as much as you can! She is probably breeding germs like crazy!!@
