Problems

My Dell Hybrid desktop has been playing up recently well sort of I'm not entirely sure what's wrong it won't connect to a ordinary monitor with a message on the monitor stating that no signal is being received but through the high definition port it can connect to my TV which shows up just fine. Do you think the problem is possibly just the adaptor which links the lead to the monitor or is it more likely to be an internal problem? Would appreciate any help.

Try to change the resolution of your VGA card into lower resolution (800x600 or less). If it is not working then I agree with the first response, it may be caused by the vga port.

If this was the problem though would it still work through the HD port? I'll give this a try see how it goes though.

The most likely culprit is the cable. Do you have another cable for plugging in to a monitor? That's about the only test you can try at home, unless you have another computer. If you do have another computer, plug it in to the monitor. If you get no signal from a good output with a good cable, your monitor is shot. They are not practical to repair. Monitors, flat screen monitors, that is, are extremely difficult even to take apart.

I've tried another cable before and I had the same problems but the monitor is quite a recent purchase so I don't think it could be the fault as it was working to begin with.

..i think the problem is video card..because as you say if you connect the monitor it displayed a message that no signal in case of that the monitor or adaptor was fine.. so maybe the cause if the video card..

How easy is it to replace a video card and are they expensive? Yeah I thought their might some sort of problems with regards to the internals but still not entirely sure how to go about fixing it or even if it's cheap enough to make it worthwhile.
