Cold? What's That?

So our beautiful Hill Country is experiencing a very cold time for winter. We have seen temps in the teens here the past few days. This has led to many people freaking out. They never knew it would get this cold in Texas. Being prepared for anything is so nice when it comes to the weather. Last night, I didn't realize it, but we still had heavy winter coats to help keep the chill in the air away. This has been a great save for all of us. Now on another note, why do stores stop selling winter essentials like space heaters in February? I needed to pick one up for our little house on the back of our property so my lovely children wouldn't freeze, spent the better part of the evening in search of one. No luck! The entire town was sold out of space heaters. I was totally amazed at this. Has it been really cold where you live? How have you been dealing with the colder temps?

Before last year I'd never seen snow actually build up on a sidewalk before. It's been more than just cold here, the huge ice storm has completely frozen the whole city over. School has been closed all week, which might be great for the little elementary school kids, but it's horrible for a college student like me who needs the school resources to do my homework. I saw the sun for the first time in a week this morning and I was like, "Now where have you BEEN?!?!? You're like a week late."

That is amazing. I'm sure where ever you live had a hard time with it. So many places are completely unprepared for snow because they don't see it that often. I'm sure once you explained to your teachers and such, they understood. It has been difficult on everyone across the nation, this has been a huge change for everyone.

It's been a bad winter, and I hear it's not even over yet. But if another ice storm blows in then my quarter is totally and utterly ruined. I think the teachers will understand, but I won't see them until monday.

That is pretty typical for areas like yours. Places below the equator, typically don't see much in the way of changes. I have friends who live in Hawaii who have said they have actually seen a slight change in their weather there, it has actually gotten a little cooler than normal for winter.
