I remember using the diskette when I was in college. Now there are flash drives and the cd. I prefer to use the cd because they say that the virus can't go through it. I enjoy loads of books in my cds

i actually use both a cd and a flash disk and i prefer the latter.i find that in my line of work - media; entertainment; virtual, etc. i find this more useful - altho i get your drift when you say there is the possibility of getting a virus. so i guess it is essential that you have an anti-virus installed or use mac =D

I think that depends on what type of anti-virus you have, and whether your anti-virus program is updated with the latest virus definition or not.

i prefer use flash because it more efficient and effective. You can wonder how much time you spend when you copy files on CD than flash. Sometimes fast is better

I prefer the USB because you can delete stuff from it, and add things you need at will. It's definitely more convenient but as for the virus thing, all computers should have virus protection anyway, as my laptop cans all flashdrives upon connecting to a computer so I don't have to worry about that so much.

I use a portable hard disk because it has a large storage space, and it is very convenient to use. I've used CDs before, they're not bad if you're sending pictures, music or videos to other people as gifts (you can't possibly give them a whole hard disk can you). However, CDs have very small storage space (80MB if I'm not wrong), and they are usually non-rewritable, meaning once you put in the files you can't edit or delete them anymore. So careful consideration must be given when putting files into a CD. The good thing is that since the files are non-rewritable, viruses cannot touch the files inside so easily. However if the virus is strong, and it is the type that wipes out hard disk contents totally, then it might also affect your CD if it is also inside your computer with the virus.

I use a flash drive and have had no problems but while I was a counselor for YESS (Young Engineering Science Scholars), over half of the laptops got infected with a virus spread through an infected thumb drive so there is the possibility of spreading a virus. I think if you are careful it can be avoided however.

Good day to you Mimiang, For me, I use both - USB and CD. It depends on the needs. Since, there are times, CD's are not available, so I use USB and vice versa. However, on the contrary, I believed, both CD's and USB are prone to virus. Hence, the best way is to scan those before using them to avoid the damage on the computer itself and to the saved file. Have a nice day!

you are right because virus cannot enter in our cd. but compare the size of cd and usb.which is comportable to bring? Search in the web because there is also available antivirus form USB. because of this, we will be 99% sure that our USB is free from viruses. also provide antivirus in your PC or Laptop for your security. Happy mylotting

Yes CD is good but I like the portability of flash disks. Not all computers has CD drives so flash disks are always handy. Flash disks also has higher storage space as compared to CD. Just install anti-virus so that your files will be safe. I usually use CD only to backup my files since data can stored in them for a long period of time.
