Starting Discussions with abandon...

I've been in mylot for quite sometime, and I find some discussions starters to have really interesting topics and would like to follow-up ion the discussion but find that some people just start discussions without following up their topics, they start 5-10 discussions in an hour It made me wonder why they do so. As I know mylot pays us for participation, not how many discussions we've started and successful discussions occur only when the starter find the time to answer the responses and comments of other mylotters. That's why I wonder why there are people who just start numerous discussions and leave mylot with so many discussions that are open ended. or Am I wrong to assume this? So many responses but no reply from the discussion starter that could have made the discussion better.*sigh* What has been your experience on this and what do you do about it?

Me too feel the same like you. Sometimes we wonder why they do so, but the one and only answer is absolutely they will earn more money but this will be true if only they answer to every comments by the other members.otherwise they will earn nothing. It just a bit annoying when they get many responses they tend to reply back with just a short sentence, 'me too.thanks for sharing your idea.' I hate that stereotype and typical answer. But never mind perhaps they just too tired after replied other comments. But I have seen someone here who start discussions( many) and then leave it like that.No answer or anything.Sometimes I keep answering and stated there, 'would like to hear your opinion', yet still no answer. What's the point of creating discussion without replying back to others answers.Fine,go ahead.I am glad I earn from it while it is up to them to reply the response or not.

Yeah, though I've seen less of those kind of discussions lately. I'm sorry for the late reply, been busy lately...

True! We do earn something for out participation in their discussions after all. But it would make me feel better if I find my comment read by the one who started the discussion. And more often than not it would also allow me to add more to the discussions.

True~They should show some appreciation by reply back the comments. So we could discuss more and expand the topic wider. If only they can see this~

Actually I don't mind people who start discussions, even if they start 100 in a day as long as they have a good subject and are good discussion starters. What bothers me is the fact that they don't even respond to one of the comments by the other members... Its good to know you are one of those that do respond to the comments made by other members.

There users just wanna earn fast without working on and taking care of their discussions. They think they'll earn something out of it but they won't. And most of the time their discussions get deleted and that will also cost them some cents from their earnings. I suggest you just ignore these discussions. It's not worth your time responding to them.

True I'be actually started marking people that start discussions and don;t respond to any of the comments made by others. It would just make me wonder if the one who started the discussion even read my post!

Yeah I do in fact notice that as well. Really, they are just hurting themselves. Don't they know that they are going to be losing out on some money by commenting on the responses. I think that I try to respond to everything, every response when I can. I think that helps increase the quality of the discussion. It also might encourage people to come back and respond on future discussions. Hence the reason why I don't make any more then three to five discussions a day. There are times where I might fall a bit behind but I catch up as soon as possible.

I'm a bit behind on this as well. What's important is that we get back to discussions we started and make it move somewhat right? I do apologize for the delay as I haven't been able to post anything in mylot for weeks! three to five discussions a day is more than I can handle nowadays because of my schedule!

I do start discussions and take some time to get back to all of them just because i like to answer to everyone who was kind enough to participate giving a personal reply to everyone. I take time but I always come back cause I'm not only making questions to receive money but I really wanna know the answer and discuss, so there are many days I don't ask anything, cause there's nothing I wanna know :D

I took time on this one as well, didn't have much time to respond or post anything in mylot! But its good to know you spend time responding to every post on discussions you started, maybe I'll drop by one of your discussions when I have more time.

One can start several quality discussion in a day, I agree with that, the problem is just that some people start with quality but there is no follow-thru hence there won;t be any discussion right?

shattered I have an idea that a l ot of newbies do not know or refuse to believe us that they will make a fortune on all our responses. they' think that they are paid for our responses which is utterly wrong. we made the responses so we get paid for typing them. they have to comment back on all the responses on all the discussions or they will not' get paid one red cent.Us older users have tried to make them believe that they do not get paid for our responses but I really feel they still think thats all they have to do is just make a whole bunch of discussions and wait for the money to roll in and never go back to their own discussions which is sad. they will not earn, will get angry and leave and they did it to themselves.I keep trying to remind people that it is your comments to the responses that will earn you money and keep a discussion going.

I have seen this many time as well. I usually don't respond to ones that just keep posting one discussion after another, as I know they are only here to earn, and not really learn a thing. The sad thing of it is like you said, is that they don't follow up by commenting back, and in my opinion that is very rude. If users can take the time to respond to a discussion, then the discussion starter should take the time to comment back, and besides that is the only way they earn. I get tired of seeing it too, but I feel that if they don't want to earn, then it is on them, and not me, as I do my part whenever I start discussions, and basically it should be expected from all of us. Now there are some that can't comment back right away for one reason or another, but eventually the do, but the ones that don't are only hurting themselves. Good luck to you and happy mylotting.

Thanks for taking people like me who can't respond right away due to one reason or another But yeah, a late comments is better than being ignored right? I do agree that it is rude when someone starts a discussion and don'e even bother to read the responses of other members. Again, I apologize for the late response

Yes I saw many discussions here started and never cared to respond by the starter. And Im really discouraged to give any comment on those but sometimes the topic was so interesting that I cant get away with out leaving any response. But the discussion could be more beneficial than earning $$$ if it was carried as a discussion and not just like a survey board. But of course we dont know their reasons why they dont reply but for my case it took me sometimes to reply on some of my responders if I got nothing sensible to add up on their views. Thats why its better to start a discussion which we are really interested and knew something to be able to keep our discussion alive.

There are time when we can;t respond to the comments immediately, such as I just did with this thread, for one reason or another. But the point is just that we do go back and read the responses of other members. It is discouraging when a discussion started is so interesting but the one who started it just doesn't follow his own threads. It is annoying to other members but I have learned to live with it somewhat!

Yes, this happened. And we did discuss this phenomenon several times, now. Since you are quite new, so I can only hope that you do not follow these kind of people, as I am sure they are not earning much, either.

I'm actually not that new but as you can see I don;t follow those precepts. But of course I am not as experience as you guys with more than 1000++ posts! Will be there soon enough not rushing... just waiting to make 500 for an easy cut and paste option!

Ah, no rush. You are right. Not much different between 500 and 1000 ++. It all depends on your priority. Some of older mylotters do not know better.

Hi shattered it does happen quite frequently and unfortunately the discussion starter has the wrong misconception about the myLot site. As we all know they do not earn for what we type, if they only understood that they will earn for the quality of what they type. All we can do is steer them in the right direction and some do pick up quickly while others do not. I am one who does not start very many but you betcha I am very attentive in commenting to my responses. As when I do start a discussion it is strictly out of interest to the topic, so I therefore, not only am I chatter box, I also find that if it interests me I have plenty to comment back with.

Yeah I just hope others realize that just starting a lot of discussions without following through wouldn't really boost their earnings. It would have been better to have one discussion and several exchanges of opinions. True, if I start a discussion, I make sure I have enough knowledge about the topic or have enough questions about it to make it into a good exchange of ideas, I guess thats one of the reasons why mylot does not allow poll type questions.

When I first joined mylot, I did the same thing because I didn't understand the system. Most people who do this have little experience in mylot, so I just assume there is a learning curve and don't worry about it.

I hope they learn that they don;t earn much from just starting discussions, sometime they quit before they try though... I hope they make it to the "curve"

I enjoy starting discussions that gets a lot of responses. So i really think hard what topics to start with. When no discussion crops up on my head, i look for interesting discussions to respond to. I see to it, that i answer all their comments so as to acknowledge that i have read them.

Yeah its hard to start quality discussions thats why when we see some and the discussion starter does not follow up, its just a waste. They have a very good discussion but never pursued it and mylot members are drawn away from discussions started by them in the future...

Maybe they don't know that when you give quality comments back on those responses, those too adds to his earnings.

Well I'm a newbie here...in fact this is my 4th post ever on this site. The first day that I joined I made 2 posts to 2 different topics (I was testing the earnings waters so to speak). I logged in today and discovered yep I got paid for those 2 posts...woohoo! But no one has talked to me yet....I so sad. I'm still checking out the site, don't want to step on any toes. It doesn't look like a lot of other message boards or forums that I've chatted on in the past. Such as different topics, with subtopic conversations. How do I explain that without sounding like an ignoramous...lol. Anyway, I'll try to watch how many topics I create and make sure that I respond to everyone that talks to me :)

I am sorry for the late reply outlawgirl! I do hope you have found mylot a good community with "mostly" good members. I have been busy offline and haven;t been online much, but I think you are on the right track. Pick the discussions you want to respond to and make quality responses like this one and you'll be ok. Hope someone has started talking to you though!

I find discussions on mylot very interesting. Most of the topics are too good and more knowledgable. More than anything it shows the discussions being done in a such a manner and its like a knowledge sharing. My knowledge has improved a lot.

We do learn a lot from mylot and some topics are indeed interesting thats why we respond to it. But wouldn;t it be a better mylot experience if there was an actual exchange of ideas?
