Stolen Cellphones!

When cellphones and text messaging was just starting in my country, I had no worries of losing my phone because nobody cared about that much. If somebody finds it, they return it to me immediately. My husband, who was my boyfriend then even left his phone in the bus and the driver who knew he was my boyfriend, returned it in my house. However, when it started to become popular in the early 2000, people became more greedy and started stealing cellphones. In one city, the mayor punishes the thieves with death. I have friends who got their cellphones stolen or they left it somewhere, but in my case i have not lost any of my cellphones since I tarted using them in 1998. Sometimes i left it at my office desk and return after an hour with my cellphone still there but other co-workers would lose it right in their bag in their cubicle. And mind you, my cellphones are high ends cellphones but the thief seems not to be attracted to it, or maybe I'm just lucky. Have you ever lost a cellphone?

I once dropped my mobile, where I am not exactly sure. By the time I tried calling back my own number about 1 hour later, it was a busy tone. I knew it was gone for good and quickly got the telco to cancel the phone line. Although the mobile was quite old, it was quite expensive given the fact it had GPS when I bought it about 3 years ago. well, we all learn...to be more careful. Once bitten, twice shy. Would you classify it as stolen since apparently the person who found it didn't return my calls?

Well under the law in my country if a person saw some property belonging to another it should be surrendered to a person in authority, the intention to keep it and not to find ways in returning it will constitute theft.

I guess you are lucky. I used to stay on my mom workplace since the owner of the shop is my aunt. I am just charging my cellphone. When I got back to the place I placed my phone its gone already. Take note, the phone is only analogue not the colored one.

Hi. toniganzon. Last year when we were staying at an apartment complex, my kids lost an old cell phone. A little boy found it. Get this! The little boy was playing with it and the mom did not have the sense to tell him to not play with it. So, that is one phone that is gone. I warned my kids about taking the phone outside. And now the phone is gone. Some people will return your personal items, while a thief does not give a crap.

hi toni, I only lost a cell phone once, I don't exactly remember the model but it was one of the smallest nokias during it's time. I lost it while me and my friends were playing billiards in one of the local billiard halls here cause it sort of disturbed me while playing cause the strap dangled in my neck and I was a little bit tipsy that time. I think cell phone theft has got to do with demand, more people now steal cellphones because there is a demand and being such it is easy to sell or the fence would accept it right away. The same way laptop theft is on the rise. When I was a student, the thing that was always snatched or stolen were watches especially original Seiko 5 and Rayban sun glasses, they don't do that much now because the demand has lessened and cheap watches are already readily available.

My first cellphone was a Nokia 3310, and I've lost him on a bus .. I was just 13 years old and when I realized that it wasn't in my pocket, I almost freaked out searching for him in everywhere.. When I came home, I told to my mum what happened and she destructed me with her belt. HAHAHAHAHA Since then I've never lost a cellphone again.

Well I guess that is just a trend we now have since almost everybody has one and it is becoming more of a need than that of a want only. That is why it is stolen because there is a wide need for it in the market. I only lost one unit with me back then and my current phone is still with me and those that precede it I sold it to cellphone buyers in our area.

You are lucky. Nowadays, cellphones are primary targets of thieves since they are easily resold. Even the cheaper models aren't spared as long as the brand is well-known. I've lost a phone but it was due to irresponsibility on my part. Well, actually, I don't even know till now where I left it. Probably in one of the bars I went to.

No, I have never lost a cell phone, and I hope I don't either. I make sure that when I am out and about, that my cell phone stays in my purse, so that I don't lose it. I will say though that I did drop one fo my cell p[hones which feel out of my purse, but I did get it back right away. With what cell phones cost nowadays, I just want to make sure that I don't lose it as it is my primare phone, since I don't have a landline. Take care, and have a very good day.

I guess I am lucky, I have never lost my cell phone before. I think because I care about it too much. IT cost me a lot of money to buy it and have an expensive service plan to it too. So I am very careful with it when I have it on my person at all times. I have noticed so lost cell phones when I am travelling on a bus or at a grocery store. I would pick it up and give it to the senior authority person in charge there so they can be able to return it to the original owner.

I didn't lost or stolen any my mobile so far. But here I don't think anyone here would give it back also. Once I say a mobile slip outside from an auto rickshaw. I took it from the road and by the time rickshaw moved further, even though I shouted and called up, they didn't heard my voice. I took another rickshaw and followed and overtook them. I asked the people inside the rickshaw and asked anyone missing their mobile. Suddenly, the person took my phone from my hand and said thanks. I told him that it is my mobile. Then another person said, yes he lost his mobile checking from his pocket. I asked them the model and make. He said but both were not matched. I understood they were lied and I didn't show the phone what I got. Then both the guys said it not of them and the rickshaw left. In fact the mobile was belongs to someone else who hired earlier and it slip out from the pocket and fell the side of the seat. Later on it slipped out and fell on the road. I find out the person by making some calls from the same calls and identified and after sometime I met the real owner of the phone who identified with the details. It was about 8 years back and mobiles were just expanding the new trend. However, he offered some money but I denied to accept and he obliged and said a heart-full THANKS and left. After also I got some mobile and whenever I tried to give them back to the owners, all went up with funny results. Late on I decided to keep the mobiles with me only because of the trouble and tension behind it. Thank-s

I did a coupe of years ago and on the same day I purchased it. I was so upset with myself as I am one to very cautious and careful with my things. Luckily I had insurance and it was replaced, although I had to pay a $50 deductible but it was a very expensive phone.

Mine was stolen a year ago. I inadvertently didn't hook our bedroom screen window , so the thief was able to get it using a long stick to get it from our bed! Maybe my dear, you are just lucky.

I have lost my cell phone once but good thing that the cab driver was nice enough to return it. Cell phones these days present good value. Some people even make stealing cell phones as their day job. It is not nice but that is what they do because a lot of people would change cell phones often. Given the technology, additional phone features are being added by the hour that is why people would want to buy stolen phones even without the additional papers that comes with it like the warranty cards and things like that because soon enough, they would trade it in or just buy the latest phone out. I hope that people especially those who steal phones would understand that most of the people using them are saving so much just to have that tool. I hope that they respect the amount of work that is being given in having a new phone.
