do you like watching the stars?

I'm often out at night watching the stars, mostly with the naked eye. I've bought a star map and there's also some cool freeware I'm using called Stellarium and Celestia. Do you also like watching the stars and if so why? ps. this may be the discussion to post your photos of the night sky. You can be sure, I'll watch them all :-)

We live directly across from a park and so my boyfriend and I weather permitting often do this daily. It is a really nice time for he and I to spend some peaceful quality time. I have never take photos though, but you have given me an idea. So as soon as it is weather permitting again here, as it is sooo cold here still, I will be taking some nice photos to share.

absolutely a nice time! Especially when you have someone you can enjoy the stars with. Sometimes I think that although they are so far away there's still a connection between them and us. We are all just star dust after all. I'm looking forward to seeing the photos you are going to make! Unfortunately I don't have a good camera right now to make photos of the stars but if you have one it's definitely worth it

I find the night sky very interesting. I used to watch it more than I do now. I don't go out that much anymore. Especially this time of year. My husband and I went out and layed under the stars and watched the meteor showers when they came. It was a great experience. I also climb to the top of the foot hills here and look out at the stars.

you are the second person in this discussion who says that you enjoy(ed) the stars with another person. Thinking about it I guess that the stars may connect people even closer. Looking at this vast space above us makes us feel alone perhaps but it also makes us want to share the beauty of the sky with others. That's cool :-)

It is cool. Nice to share. Maybe that is why I dont go out to look and enjoy so much by myself anymore.

I don't like low temperatures either. Astronomers say though that cold air is better for viewing than warm air (catchword: seeing). Especially in winter the sky is very clear over here, one can even see the milky way.

Unfortunately I don't get to see many stars here. There are some amazingly bright moons if you look out at the right time, but stars aren't really seen. It's a shame really, one of my favourite pasttimes is start-gazing, and I don't really get an opportunity to do it anymore. My favourite place to watch the stars is while camping. We stay out late for different events going on and then while we're trekking back to the tent, there are some gorgeously bright stars then.

yeah, when the sky is clear the stars will always accompany us everywhere we go and they will make us feel happy. They even help us to navigate - if you know where the polar star is located you'll know the orientation. Cheers

I would love to see stars. I bet they are really beautiful. I live in the city side so It is hard to see a full night sky with lots of stars. Someday I well go to the country side I can't wait till then.

yes, they are! You can already get a good impression on the internet (astronomy websites) of what the night sky looks like. But you're right, you should definitely go to the country side. There's nothing like the real night sky :-)
