My responses are decreasing

I have been looking at the number of discussions and responses I have been making this month. I started out making lots (up to 80) and then it started going down. Yesterday, there were only about 14. It is not bad because I know that I will make payout this month, but it is frustrating because if I don't pick it up I know that I won't do it every month. What do you do when all the discussions you see are boring and not something you want to respond to? I usually just look at those that come to my email box, but maybe I should loo at others as well. Thanks.

I keep a tab open to the 'recent' discussions. Those are the ones with the most recent activity and it is surprising what appears there I have many notifiers but there is always something in that tab that I would not have seen and would have been disappointed if I saw it months later.

I guess I can give that a try. I sometimes do other things and forget about the mylot tab so I still miss things. Thanks for the suggestion!

I think I use that tab more than any other here. Absolutely everything passes through it. Just keep it refreshed and you will see the whole world of myLot

Hmm...I find that the notifiers only notify us to a certain extent? I mean if I've responded to a certain discussion, well, like I'm responding here now, it doesn't show up in my email if anyone writes anything back right? Only if I respond to the main thread?

I must agree with you on this one - quality discussions are dropping, I have loads that come in that are just there for the sake of starting a discussion, you just knowI'm actually loosing steam due to such kinds of discussions that are being started but then not an excuse for me though, haha!~How are your topics thingy coming by?

Have you added new friends to your list since you came back after your absence? Maybe you are not aware of some of the new Lotters? No typos second time round

So I guess that means we need to start discussions that we can converse on. I like the kind of discussion that I am able to respond to and have a response that I can respond to. As far as my topics thingy, I can occasionally think of something and when I can't, I start a new topic in the "improve your English" interest area. But responses there are slim too. Oh well...

Yesterday I felt that it was slow every where, not just on MyLot but on Gather as well. I was, in fact, able to keep up with my e mail from both plus all the random stuff that also comes in. MysD gave you good advice. I do check "friends started" in case I miss anything while I am else where, and I also check "today's top" and "hot" as well as "recent". If I want to find out if there is more activity on my responses, I will also check "responded to".

If you want to do that, the best way I know is to check the friend's profile. There will be a list on the right hand side that tells you what they have been responding to recently. I get so many e mails in a day that sometimes the notifications from my friends get buried.

That's encouraging. It's not just me. Since I get an email every time someone responds to me or one of my friends starts a discussion, I don't need to check those tabs, but I guess I can see what my friends responded to that I didn't. Is there a tab for that? Talk to you later.

I just have so many friends in my list that it might be hard to get to them all. I guess I could just look at those who have lots of responses (more than 100). I have many that have less than that and I don't think they are very active. Talk to you later.

Hi dear, It was my habit for a long period that I will look out only my inbox and respond to their topics. But as you said, all the inobx topics should not mean that all are so promotional to comment. Sometimes, the topics may be so weak and we don't feel like comment. I dropped the system of only referencing with inbox, and out of the way, I will check all - todays top, hot, friends started, new, recent, new user, not responded etc. The best part is that when I checked the 'not responded' area, I found so much of interesting discussion and I wondered why people were not bothered such topics. So, keep checking all the areas of discussions and I am sure that you will encourage with interesting topics where you can continue more energetically for more than 100 discussions a day! However, we cannot even predict what we can get nice topics also. So, look around, or search by our interest also, I think the problems can be resolved. Again, doing the same thing for a long period also make us little dizzy due to the repetitiveness. Have a nice day, Thank-s

I don't check my emails anymore since I was absent from myLot for about three months before. Actually, even before that, I don't really look at my email to participate in myLot. I keep myLot open all the time and when there is a discussion from my interest that looks interesting, I just joined the discussion and input something. Sometimes I read the discussions and responses and leave without responding when I think I cannot contribute more. And sometimes I see some of my friends responding and commenting on a discussion and I joined them.

You are soooooo welcome when you do that! We can't always get round to responding on all of the topics that our friends start but we can jump into their boxes elsewhere and make our presence felt

I guess I could try to do that. I think there is a tab for discussions our friends start (but those come to my email). I also look at the mylot digest. How do I find discussions my friends respond to? Is there a tab for that or do I just need to go into each friend?

You are not alone. There are times when i just couldn't find discussions that interest me and i would just leave mylot without responding or starting my own discussion. But somehow i keep good friends who can write really good things in here and that keeps me going. Sometimes i would look at those written by people that are not included in my interest or i used the search engine for more interesting topics. That way i can still participate in here.

I have done that too sometimes. I just don't like it when it asks me to add interests such as parenting when I respond to something that was in that area since I am not a parent. What do you do in that kind of situation. I just keep hitting no and go on since I don't want to keep getting discussions about parenting. Oh well...

it's just a matter of choice. when you want a monthly pay out then work for it as diligent as you can. there is no such thing as boring topics. you just don't understand some posts because others don't have a point or stress on their topics. i consider them as with low quality. we have hundreds of posts here coming daily so you can choose that best fit your interest pal. go go go to pay out this month. i am aspiring for it too.

I agree. Actually, right now I am about .16 away from payout so I'm not worried about it for this month. After the day of responses I had today, I feel like I will do really well financially. I don't like the discussions with low quality, but there are some that are so high that I can't understand them either. Thanks for the comment!

The easiest responses I am able to leave are on discussions that I have started. Other then that when I am searching through mylot sometimes I cant find barely anything to comment on. Other days there are so many discussions that I earn a lot. It also depends on how much time I have when I am on mylot. What I've started doing when I run out of discussions to comment on by looking through all the categories on the home page I go to my friends list and take one friend and read all the discussions they have started. If I see one that looks good I will bookmark it and then after going through all of their discussions I will go and comment on them and then move on to the next friend doing the same thing. Its actually pretty fun to see all the discussions one person has started.

I was really surprised by the results I got yesterday! I made over $1 yesterday alone! I might go to the point of looking at all the discussions that people make, but since I get notified of them for the most part that is easy. I might look at what else they commented on though. Thanks for the comment!

Maybe just spend more time responding to other discussions for a while. Who knows, you might get inspired some time. I sure did with this topic! I really didn't expect it to take off like it did! Have a great week!

Wow.. 80 is really great. I respond to an average of about 10 per day. That too if i see something interesting only. Any way good luck for you to score a century.

Actually, I think I only did that once and that was at the very beginning of the month. I have only been active again this time around for about a month now so to make payout already is really nice. I hope that I can average about 25 discussions/responses a day and I should be ok. I will be looking for more interesting topics in the future so that I can do even more. Thanks for the response!

If the topics are not to my liking i start a discussion. Sometimes, i would prepare them at my laptop , offline and would just copy and paste it to Mylot. I would always sometimes only start discussions , so more or less i can gauge how much is earned from it.

Maybe your discussions themselves are getting better, being refined in quality; 'suffering' a little in quantity
@daeckardt (6237)
• United States
23 Feb 11
The quantity had gone way down up to that point, but after posting this discussion, I made over $1 that day and then the next two days was .38 and .13. Of course yesterday I didn't have my computer with me while I was at the doctor's office all day. I didn't get any time in at all yesterday, but today I am catching up. I'm not too worried about it because I know I'm going to get paid for this month since I'm already over $11. I don't know if the discussions are any better, but the number is highly variable. Thanks for the comment!

If they are to where I don't know nothing about what they are talking about or boring. I just pass them up.

I know what you mean there. Actually, most of the discussions I had responded to before today were ones that came to my inbox and if they were too short or not interesting, I didn't even go into the site. Thanks for the comment!
• United States
21 Feb 11
That's how I find out about the discussions too is from my inbox. I usually answer them if I think they are interesting enough too. I sometimes answer them even if they are short ones if they are interesting. I learned to not make a discussion topic a question when I do it because a lot of them got canceled because they considered it a pole. This is one of my discussion topics that got closed. What kind of computer do you use to go online? In the writing of it. I said what computer I used, the brand ,and the version and I use more then one so I said when I use the others and asked them what computers they use, brand and version and for what. Have a good week and thank you for responding back.
