FA Cup Update: Arsenal 1: 1 Leyton Orient

In another result that would question the Arsenal title ambitions this season, League one club Leyton Orient scored in the last minute to earn a hard fought draw against Arsenal. Arsenal was in the lead via a Rosciky header, but were very wasteful in front of goal and now have paid for the profligacy by having an additional match to play in the rematch at Emirates. Arsene Wenger made 10 changes from the team that beat Barca on Wednesday. But still I think any Arsenal team is supposed to win such matches. It is a clear indicator of the bench strength not being good enough at this level. What are your views on the match? Cheers! Ram

I'm not actually surprised by such a result Arsenal always play well against a bigger team then when it comes to beating the so called easier teams they struggle to gain the needed victories. Despite the changes they still had a number of recognised players who have are supposed to have a far superior ability to Letyon Orients. This extra game is certainly an unnecessary game giving the schedule they have coming up against Barcelona with the potential to be playing in the next round of the champions league not to mention the fact that they are still able to win the premier league this season. This result today may just prove extremely costly in the long run.

I agree this match is unwanted. I think every season at this junction when they are running in all competitions, this is where they get really high strung. They get into a fixture congestion, then one or two injuries and suddenly a 4 trophy winning season becomes a no trophy winning season. Sometimes it is good to prioritize your competitions rather than just going on in all competitions. Cheers! Ram

The Carling cup should be at the forefront of their mind along with the champions league as they're in the final of the Carling cup they shouldn't lose a match to Birmingham but the way they struggle against the smaller teams will again be a factor which will be tested. The champions league should also be focus now as they've beat Barcelona once and will be desperate to progress whilst their not far from top in the league I do believe the fixture congestion will scupper their chances of success. Your certainly right though Arsene Wenger really needs to decide where the teams priority lies this season you just have to look at United last season who were in with a chance of quadruple for quite a while but things don't work out that way.

I would agree that the Carling and Champions League should be the highest in the agenda. Next up should be the Premier League and finally the FA Cup. I hope they at least win the Carling Cup and hope that it starts a title surge for them. Cheers! Ram

I saw this match, and it was actually quite good. Arsenal's line-up was with almost reserves only. Arsenal fought hard to get their goal, but out Rosicky got his head on the ball and 1-0 to Arsenal. After that Arsenal really didn't managed to made any big chances, but in the 92th minutes a Leyton player made it on his own and 1-1. This result is very bad for Arsenal, because the have a very tough programme already, so this might cause some problems for them.

Right and that is the biggest concern for me for Arsenal this season. They seem vulnerable to the sucker punch at the end. I think until Arsene Wenger gets some real characters who can bring a fighting mentality into the team, they are going to struggle finishing off matches. Cheers! Ram

I just saw the goal that Arsenal conceded and it just seems pathetic. One striker up against 4 defenders and then he gets through. His shot is directly at the goalkeeper who jumps over the ball!! It was disastrous. Cheers! Ram

Exactly, Arsenal struggles in almost every match, and they spent a lot of energy every time. As you mention Arsenal really doesn't have any fightong mentality. This can be the problem in the end, which makes them win nothing at all.

It was a good goal for Leyton, but an horrible goal to concede for Arsenal. There were 4 defenders in front of the Leyton player and the shot should have been a regulation stop for any top goal keeper and yet they let it in. Cheers! Ram

The match clearly shows the difference between Arsenal first team and the reserves. Some of them does well but seriously, the likes of Denilson, Almunia and Diaby (he did not feature in the game) has to go. Rosicky, while he scored the goal and is some player prior to his long term injuries, is no longer the same player he was. Maybe it is time to let him go as well. As for the titles charges, this is another match which they can do without especially when Nou Camp trip is round the corner.

And yesterday, the dream started to fall off again. They lost the Carling Cup final to Birmingham. They handed it on the platter with Schechny dropping the ball in front of Martins who gleefully scored. Cheers! Ram

The problem for Arsenal was the lack of creativity in mid field. In absence of Nasri and Fabregas, there is no one to deliver that assist. Rosicky is not the same kind of player he was before injury. Bendter just does not have the quality to play for Arsenal. Good thing for Arsenal is that Arshavin is returning to his old self. He is looking more sharp and having a good run. They will win the replay and then face Manchester United in an exciting clash.

I think Rosicky is more or less finished. I think Bendtner will move over this summer. Cheers! Ram

Rosicky is more like a back up player now. If Bendtner moves, it will be good for Arsenal. He has never been of the quality of Arsenal.

Yes, bench players seem to be at least one level lower than the first team. Cheers! Ram

The players really dissapointed themselves. I didn't watch the game but from all the match preview posted by Arsenals fans blog, Arsenal should have win and Chamakh miss a 5 yard shot. Maybe this so call "B" team might get offload soon starting with Almunia. They just couldn't justify their selection. Despite all the ability, they just couldn't win the game.

I agree some of these guys are ready to be offloaded. I think Rosciky is finished and Arshavin seems to play only in big matches. Almunia will most probably move on in the next season. Cheers! Ram
