OK, ran out of room in the title, so had to express "money" in two characters LOL I think I made my point Anyway, my paranoid husband did not want to wait till the fourth to figure out whether or not he'd be getting social security money, if the Dems and Reps couldn't agree on the budget He also had some questions about medicare, since he'll be 65 soon. Anyway, this morning he called Social Security, and asked them. Essential services like the CIA, FBI, Military, etc. along with government payments such as Social Security, Disability, welfare, VA, etc. won't be affected. Thanks to all who answered my previous discussion. You gave me some great information.

They are not going to stop SS. They cannot stop it. It is actually a totally separate account from the National Budget. They are not supposed to touch this acct. for anything except SS. even though they do all the time. Legally they cannot take this away from us since it is something we all have paid into. The major problem is that they are giving millions away to illegal aliens who have never paid a dime into the program.

Yep, and the illegals are the ones that are depleting our Social Security stronghold... and no one seems to care at all!I just can't understand why they get it all but instantly, when Americans who need it so much have to get a lawryer and go to court over it or wait till age 65. What is so wrong with saying...you only get it if you paid into it? How easy is that!

How about unemployment? I know that it is initially a state program, but I am in the emergency portion now the part that the Prez had to approve. That is all the income we have. Early Social Security for hubby and unemployment for me. He is about the same age as your hubby.

Apreciate the info. But isn't it "new" claims of SS that are supposed to be effected? I don't know much about it, but I thought I heard that if you already have the award, you are okay. They are talking about new claims that might be cut.
