I am looking forward to reading your views on this discussion and maybe, someone here on Mylot, can help settle a family dispute. I have always followed the calendar week that has a weeks starting on a Sunday, whereas, a working week starts on a Monday. Hence, Wednesday is the middle of the week, having 3 days either side of it. Friday, Is the end of the working week, and Saturday the weekend. But, if God made the World in 6 days and rested on the 7th, when is the true Sabbath day and the end of the week? The Muslims celebrate their Sabbath on a Friday, the Jews, celebrate on a Saturday and in Christianity, the Sabbath is on a Sunday. So, when for you is the start and the end of a week?

For me the start of the week is on Monday and it ends on Sunday. I recently heard about this doubt on the week. Probably the fact that school starts on Mondays make me think in this way.

It isn't an easy one as different people view it from different reasons. The dictionaries tend to have the week starting on a Sunday and Monday as day 2. But most of us start our working week or school week on a Monday so logically that is when the week starts. I guess it is one of those personal preferences.

The start of the week for me has always been Monday, the end of the week Sunday. However, I did not base this on the bible or religious reasoning. I have seen calendars that were set up with Sunday as the first day of the week. But I think most people go by the 'working week' calendar.

Hi palonghorn, Thanks for the response. My week isn't based on religious reasonings either, purely by the calendar. So, if your week starts on a Monday, that must make Thursday the middle of the week. Is that how you see it?

Hello LeighB! On the Catholic, and Jewish Calendar the week begins on Sunday. The seventh day is the Sabbath (Saturday) and the first day of the week is Sunday. The most important Jewish day is Saturday, and the most important Christian day is Sunday. The Bible States, that God resurrected the first Day of the week (Sunday), that means he resurrected after the Sabbath (Saturday). In the daily basis, I begin my week on Monday, since is the day when children return to school! =) Blessings!... Dainy

Hi Dainy, Thanks for helping to clear up the dispute that is in my family at present. I think for most people the week begins on a Monday when they head back to work or the children get back to school.
