Dhoni is always named as cool captain,He is a captain with Temperance. Ok, he is doing his job and his keeping and batting fairly wihtout making much expressions or emotions. But as a captain of a team you need to boost the team, you need to show expressions and emotions to boost the team. thats not happening, It was shown well by Saurav ganguly, i think its lacking in Dhoni. Some players in the Indian team, doesnt look like they are playing for the nation, playing here to win the world cup. They dont show their happiness in their Achievement, or dont become dissapointed in their failure, they stays emotionless. It looks like, they will not be satisfied even if they wins the world cup. It looks like they have been doing the job given to them as slaves serves their master. The two bowlers in indian team, does fielding as it is a job which they are not intereseted, and still doing it,as if some slaves do. In the match against England, Munaf patel took a good return catch to make peterson out, but I was shocked with the emotionless behaviuor of Munaf. He took a catch, which was struck hard by peterson, that too on second attempt by sitting down,KP was just stunned, but munaf stayed emotionless. He does fielding as a liability. when all other team mates came to congratulate munaf, he stood their as if nothing has happened. but we have to afford him due to his bowling. Nehra is the good friend of munaf in this case, his mentality is like why do you pick me in the team? if any one of you have seen the practise session of nehra, you will feel the dissapointment. But we have extreme opposite player also, sreesanth, he is overjoyed, over expressive, make unwanted sledging and all headache to captain. I think the only good player who have good emotions and good bowling is Zaheer Khan. he is good in all respects, show emotions with in the limit, boost the team mates and all. Yuvi is also not the same as his old behaviour,He was a first class fielder, now its the case to hide him in the field. Yusuf Pathan also is not very good, it seems like, he is always having the dissapointment of not picking his younger brother in the team. irfan Pathan is really a missing seem bowling allrounder in the team. Vrat kholi and Raina, is the only two snappy cricketers in indiaN cricket, in that two only one will be picked in playing eleven. Dhoni need not demolish the TV in dressing room or abuse the opposition players but this is international cricket and here body language matters. There is no use if you wont express the love inside you, same way there is no use is in hiding the solidarity and gallantry inside you, it should be expressed at least to boost the team mates. I thought Dinesh Karthik is an excellent example for that.he was always boosting every one, keeping the game on every time, even if he is not picked in playing eleven. specially when players like munaf should change, they may not be able to change their fielding, but they can try to change their attitude towards the match Hope Inida will pick the intensity as the tournament progresses.......

Yes ,Body language of a player really has a lot of works to do in the International cricket. As you pointed out,Munaf is a good bowler, but India need some more from him. He should be more active in the ground. And Sree is always Over active & shows more activities . Zaheer's body languuage is good, and it can be seen in his performance also. And Dhoni should be more active in the field,as he is the Skipper and he is the Wicket keeper. We had seen many WK always comments on every bowl and increases the confidence of the bowler.it is missing in dhoni. As you mentioned Dinesh Karthik is a good example for that . Dhoni is the Captain, but should encourage the players in the team more an more. I think Dhoni was a good in the T20 WC india won. The 2007 T20 team was more energetic and almost all the players were very active ,Dhoni also was more active there. Yesterday in the match between Pak vs Canada ,Pak team was a good example of good body language and players were more active. Akmal did the job perfectly as a WK,Afridi as a captain was boosting up the confidence of the bowlers after each and every bbowler, also the other team mates supported the bowler after each delivery. Captaincy has mant things to do,its not a simple task. The players mind also plays a lot,and the team morale should also be very high. Any wat these all things became right the chance for a team to win the match increases.

surely you have said it well, captain has a big job in front, he has to make his team perfect face and win in all situations. Afridi is the good example, he lead from front and boosted the players. If he has not done that aggressiveness in the field surely pak would have lost the match. Thats what we expect from dhoni too.

Completely agree with you on this, its sad that body language and killer instinct of players in Indian team only rises when they are thrashed by opposition. This lack of intensity was evident in both matches , that is against BD and England.Surprisingly Dhoni didnt even try to attack at all during England's innings .KP has been struggling against spin , even Strauss is not so comfortable against spin so he could have opened the innings with spinner, also after Trott was out on 111 still there were only 4 fielders inside the circle and there was no pressure on Strauss and Bell whatsoever. On a flat pitch if you play the waiting game even score of 500 is not safe.India got away with embarrassment against SL once while defending 413 by winning the match with 2-3 runs at Rajkot so Indian team should be extra cautious. But i am still optimistic that after this embarrassment Dhoni and co will change gears and we will see better temperament and emotions in coming matches as India has started many tournaments and series in the same slow manner and picked up later so hoepfully we will see much better temperament by Dhoni and other players in coming matches ,espeically against SA.

ya the team is less in intensity,as compared to other top teams. surely Indian team was playing as if they had already won the match, and the intensity in the team to register a good victory and look forward the WC with high confidence was not there. I think now the team is slowly getting int the big platform and realising that they should improve and play well, I think we can see the team with full intensity against SA. Asnow we have tied the match against England, we have to win against SA to be the top in the group.

I do not agree that you need to show emotions to be a good leader. It all depends on the team that you are leading. If you look at Clive Lloyd, he hardly showed any emotions, but he was a real great captain winning 2 world cups. I think if the team is very young and unsettled then an emotive captain really helps. But in a team that is settled with decent number of seniors, the captain can be less emotive. Cheers! Ram

Please do not compare Munaf with Sachin. Munaf is nowhere near the sportsperson that Sachin is. If you look at Munaf in the field you feel deflated. He is a good bowler, but all other aspects of his game are such a big let down. Cheers! Ram

I think the era in which Clive Lloyd played and the present cricket is having big difference. In their time cricket was gentleman's game, now its not like that. You may have also noticed many teams picked wickets just by doing long appealing, the series of Inid vs Aus in the past showed well that aggressiveness matters a lot. In that time our captain dhoni himself commented that Indian players should learn how to sledge. So here aggressiveness is needed but not like sreesanth. just like gambhir or zaheer. And as you know Sachin and sehwag play dedicated cricket, they too atleast enjoy the good moments, sachin always shows his happiness on the field if he gets a wicket, and munaf being a bowler, after getting wicket of KP stayed emotionless, how can we digest that?

lol and here i thought you were a die-hard dhoni fan.lol. good discussion because you pointed out a very valid point. he can be as emotional as a poker player when captaining but its a wicket-keeper's job to constantl;y chat and keep the team morale up. and they have the stump mike handy. and i didn't notice it before though karthik did do it a lot. you mentioned intensity with respect to fielding. i express the same except it concerns bowling. i get the impression that instead of bowling to a plan, they kinda make the ball land at some place and let it do the rest.my job is done. thank you i mean this is not just another tournament.this is something we haven't won for almost 28 years. but the good news is the draw against england has somewhat woken up the team along with the fact irish team upsetting the english players. zaheer who thought might be rested against minnow ius seen bowling . THE NEXT ONE IS FOR YOU. ashish nehra was seen bowling and he looked very anguished when he bowled a delivery on the leg side of virat kohli while practising. seems we are getting the emotions back.

hai, Have you felt that I am a big Dhoni fan here?? Ok, I Am actually big Ganguly Fan, anyway now he is retired, and as all indians, sachin and viru fan also. Actually in the young players I belive Virat kholi is the one to watchout, i am a fan of him also. well dhonis sound may be picked up by the stump mic, the he can keep quiet, but atleast try to boost these sad players in the break.Thats what i wish. And I have told that I am happy that dhoni can perform without showing emotions, thats why he is rated as cool captain, but at some point of time that advantage is becoming a disadvantage for us, thats what i expressed. And you pointed out the bowling also, surely Indian bowling is not a world class one, and it has not been the best in the past too,so they just put it and it let it do the rest.Actually this is where coach should step up and do something to get wicket and make bowling plans. Surely , me too heard that Indiant eam is going to play in full strenght even though the match is against ireland, I think the last two matches have brought some lacked intensity in the team, and thats good for the team. If ashis bowls well then its good for the team, hope that his fielding will also improve.

surely every Indian fan wish india to win the cup, and I also wish the same. but i just felt that we are lacking the intensity when compared to other top teams, hope that we will pick it up on the way and win the cup.
