Recently i befriended a guy whom i met in a chat site, I got to know that he is also Indian and after talking for some days we exchanged our email ids.I never give my yahoo id as its my very personal one so i gave him my gmail id.Yesterday i got email confirmation message from a ptc on gmail. It told me to click the link to confirm my account, i thought i didn't register on that website so how come i got its confirmation message, so i didn't click the link.Just after an hour later i went to that chat site and i met that guy again, he told me to go and check my gmail inbox if i got any confirmation from viewbestads , i said yes i got it.He told me to confirm it as he made that account on my behalf as his referral. I got infuriated. How can anybody use my email id to make account anywhere and that too without asking me?I don't talk to him now.

be careful, what the guy have done is like identity theft. If he can do it once he can do it again. where did he get the info for thr registration. did you give it to him unintentionally. this guy is a scoundrel. is this the way to make money by using other peoples id to create refferal. If I were you I would report this to the site and have him barred or blocked and stop payment to him. I even will lodge a report to the police.

Have you done something else other than shutting him off from access to you. have you communicate with the site and inform them what this guy have done and sort of letting him have it....

Very good Akangirl! A lesson learned...never share ANY personal information with ANYONE online. It's a shame, but there are so many not-so-nice people out there waiting to take advantage of kind people like you. Changing the subject, I often hear about people meeting and chatting at chat sites but have never seen one. Where are these chat sites located? Cheers, Ed

I would have been very annoyed about that as well. Requesting someone to join a site as their referral is fair enough, but there can be no excuse for taking it for granted and enrolling on your behalf. Furthermore, there is no way of knowing whether he was considering using the membership himself, in which case he would be immune from repercussions if he cheated and was discovered.

hmmmm this tells us that we shouldn't trust anyone so easily and how come he register on behalf of you, without your permission, you should have scolded him for doing such a thing so that he'll never repeat such things again, good thing you didn't give him your personal id.

Good thing and please stay away from such people in future. People you meet in chat rooms are 90% jerks and they have the ability to wheedle information out of others also. With good promises they manage to entangle your mind. I also got duped a few times and since then i have stopped going to chat rooms since then. Never give any personal information again! Cheers!

Sorry i really have to say this word but i cannot help it! Such person is an A-hole! YOu know there are a lot of untrustworthy people in that chat site. Long time ago when private chat wasn't available yet we would usually give each other's email on the world room but there was this one user who would copy all those emails and would spasm us with his site. That totally pissed me off. He got banned but only for a few days and he returned anyway and i can still see him chatting there. Be careful friend. I would never talk to that person anymore in that chat site and you know you can report that to the admin and he will do something about it.

Many people are trying so hard to earn online and this is sometimes through referrals. Well he must be very in need that he used your email id as his referral but that is very selfish of him. Yes you have given your email id to him but that doesn't mean that he can use it whatever way he want to and that's very disrespectful I say and that gives you the reason to be infuriated. There are many people online who just make friends for their own gain. Be careful next time akangirl.

his time it seems you do sloppy by submitting his time it seems you do sloppy by submitting 100% if you know someone via the Internet, many cases occur due to overconfidence when we met via the Internet. I also blame your friends who use e-mail without your knowledge. To be safe immediately change the password on your e-mail address and subscribe your friends have done it, so that e-mails you're safe and not a lot of spam.
