Long time back while I was studying in College, I was going to my native place by train after closure of the College for winter vacation. During night time, I got down at a small station and went out of the sation for some work. By the time I returned, the train had gone with all my luggage. I went to station master and he immediately telephoned the next station and and afetr some time he confirmed to me that my luggage had been collected and they were safe. He asked me to go there by next train. I faced lot of problems as I did not have much money in my pocket. Somehow, I got help from the station master, and I reached the next station and collected my luggage after identifying myslf and disclosing contents in my suit-case. I could reach my native place next evening while I should have reached there previous night only. Just imagine, I did not have much money, so I had to purchase small quantity of nuts to satisfy my hunger. I still cannot forget my that horrifying experience. Did you ever miss a train and faced troubles? Would you please share with us.

hi udaymohan I used to live in South Dakota and went to college in Eastern part of the state Vermillion so had to travel cross state back home on holidays. We started out on time and I had to change trains midway well that train never came. snowed in so had to wait four hours for first bus through behind the snow plows. so I got home a day late but I did manage to have a nice Christmas vacation that year once I finally got home. sitting on a suitcase in a chilly waiting room for a bus that was four hours late was such fun not. lol lol lol

Hatley, I can imagine how you might have felt for four hours sitting on a suitcase at a remote place while it was snowing. However, I am glad to know that you reached well in time to celebrate Christmas. Thanks for your response.

My local train station is a small station with short platforms. Usually two carriage trains run along it though now the Intercity trains that are eight carriages long nowadays. This means when it gets to my local station only some of the carriages are on the platform. I travel in the carriage that has a space for wheelchair because I travel with my disabled son. One time I took a day trip to Taunton with my disabled son and I was at that time pregnant with my daughter. The train was late running and when it got as far as Weston-super-Mare it said that it would no longer be stopping where it was timetabled for. We didn't get enough time to get off at Weston-super-Mare. It was then fast to Bristol Temple Meads! We got their at rush hour and had trouble getting on a train that was full of commuters. Being pregnant at the time I felt dizzy standing.
