In another fantastic display of passing football, Barcelona beat Arsenal 3-1 on the night to win the tie 4-3 on aggregate. It was a shame that the referee spoiled the spectacle by sending off Robin Van Persie for time wasting when he took a shot at the goal while being judged offside. Even with that travesty of justice there is no denying the domination of Barcelona over Arsenal. All four goals came of Barcelona men including an own goal by Busquets which kept Arsenal in the hunt till the harsh sending off. So Arsenal are now out of 2 off the 4 titles there were supposedly chasing this season within a week's time. Now will they be able to put their full focus on the league and try to snatch it late from Man U? Cheers! Ram

Wow! What happened to Arsenal? Did they run out of gas? Or did they take teams for granted?

No, there were up against probably one of the all time best teams. And then the referee killed off the match by sending off one of Arsenal's players wrongly with both teams poised at 1-1. But even with that travesty, I think Barcelona was dominating the match all through. Cheers! Ram

i have just finished watching this minutes ago,i think after this match barca got their expected result that i considered was reasonable, and arsonal shouldnt be too upset because obviously they took much progress in comparison with the 4-1 one at camp nou,oh mature content,i came across that for once too.

Yes, but when I was watching I felt that Arsenal has taken some baby steps towards improvement while Barcelona has made some huge strides of improvement. The inclusion of David Villa in the front and Mascherano at the back has made the team more potent as well as solid. Cheers! Ram

for barca i cant say progress on level, they just have kept that for last 3 years. and that simply made them topmost of all.but i don't like the fact that rivals of barca always got redcards in matches like this, which generates unnessary controversy,i dont like that, because barca actually deserved the victory.

Yes, I think one stigma with most La Liga teams is the over reaction when they are felled like the number of tumbles that David Villa took over a trip. I think that cons a lot of referees and UEFA needs to look into this. I think the referee who was officiating in this match needs to be put back in the pecking order for some time. Cheers! Ram

It had been argued that Barcelona total deserved its victory but if one look at it in another angle, despite not having a shot on target, they managed to score a goal. This goes to show the resilient shown by Arsenal. The other main talking point is the sending off of Van Persie. I seriously think Van Persie did hear the whistle. The distance and the way he shoot at goal, it look as thou he is aware of the offside call. Normally, he would move further towards goals before taking a shot. Not at that distance. But the referee should have given him a warning that all. Come on, how much time was wasted? Beside, it was on the 50th odd minutes and still plenty of time to go before the time wasting tactics come into play.

I think Van Persie send off was really not required. I agree a stern warning could have sufficed and if he had repeated then could have sent off. Regarding the Arsenal goal, they were actually lucky to get an own goal via Busquets in my opinion. Just go back the last 10 matches and try to remember when was the last time Arsenal scored via a header from a corner. :) Cheers! Ram

In this game, only one team was playing, and that was Barcelona. Arsenal was unable to put up a great display and the goals had to come in logical way. As for Bussacca, he made a rushed decision when sending off van Persie. I am sure that Robin hasn't heard that the referee whistled, just look at his motion, he continued as usually. But I think even 11 vs 11, Barcelona would have still scored the goals and went through to the next phase. Everybody has to acknowledge that Barcelona is a true force, especially at home, and they were better on aggregate than Arsenal.

For a long time till it was 1-1, I thought Arsenal was going to pull off what many other teams pull off against Arsenal. That is a sneaky win without playing football. You are right it was only Barca that was playing the game. And after Van Persie was dismissed the whole game was played in and around the Arsenal D. Cheers! Ram

Too bad for Arsenal. Feels sorry for them. The fact of Van Persie sending off, Szczesny injured are just another things that goes bad for them. I wish that they could proceed through the next round. If things going on like this, then they will take more focus on the Premiere League, which is not good for Man Utd. This is my thought, since I'm a United fans :)

Actually Man U stand in their way in both the remaining competitions. They are their opponents in the next round of FA Cup. Again in the league, they are the team that Arsenal is trying to catch up with. Cheers! Ram
