MyLot Community Should Set an Example and Allow The Willing To Contribute

Hi Lotters Many of us are aware of what has happened yesterday on our Mother Earth and the sad part is that many people are trapped and suffering. It is not just about yesterday's Tsunami and Earthquakes at Japan. Such incidents have started happening more frequently over the last few years(last time it was Christchurch, New Zealand)... and millions have suffered... I was wondering how we can help... Initially I thought a mere prayer for their well being would be enough but yesterday one of my dear MyLotters pointed out on a discussion that It is God's will and Prayers may not be the only way out. I agree. We cannot be with them at this bad time they are facing but still we can help... How? I tried to find over the Internet if I could make a monetary donation kind of thing... and maybe it was too soon... but I did not find one and even if I found, I would have hesitated to give them my Paypal Id via which I could donate online. Then a thought occurred... Why Not ask MyLot Community about this - What if MyLot setup a donation discussion, where in everyone who said Yes, I want to donate could specify an amount to be donated and this amount got deducted from his/her earnings... Even did a small calculation in this regard - Assuming only 10% of MyLotters decided to donate a mere 1 USD each as of now this equals to about 22618.00 USD (my screen shows myLot population: 226,187 ) - definitely not a bad amount from the community towards the noble cause. The admin can use these funds and then post up a pic of the Acknowledgment of the Payment from the concerned Authorities for those who want a proof. Reason why I select MyLot - I have and many of us have trust on the site and also are happy being here and we have already our payments due every month... so it is not much of a task. Yes, I can see some questions wrt the payments (many reach the min. payout with many difficulties...) but dear... think this - assuming the minimum payout is 10.00 USD you will not feel the pinch of 1.00 USD in one year... Your Views Please Regards, theSids

Hi thesids This is a great idea and if I can also contribute I would also like to. We shall perhaps await a reply from our admin and see if this is a go.

Hi Saphrina I missed out on the news the entire day and in the evening hours when I was on MyLot I was shocked to read the posts... then searched for all the news I could get and really it was a bunch of horrifying and scary scenes... Yes, it is going to take a lot more than mere the money or the prayers but as you say, it is a good start

Hello Sidhu, Your idea is really fantastic and I am appreciating the same. But who is going to organize all these things. According to mylot asking a donation is against the rule so we have to think about the same too. However, I am assuring my help here, though my papal is empty this time; let me think what I can do.

Hi Sree A few days back, there was an alert for all on MyLot about "MyLot partnering with GeoAds", hope you saw that one (as you were away for some days). The same way MyLot can put up an alert and start a discussion. All those who are willing can participate and also put an amount they want to contribute. At month end, when the payments are due, MyLot admin can deduct and pay off the balance. The deducted amount goes to the charity fund from MyLot.

They can even deducted before payment due. Like I have earned less than minimum payout and I want to donate some of my earning then they can also deducted before payment due time.

One dollar from one month's payout will not affect me negatively and therefore if there is such an opportunity, I will definately participate How about if every online site where we are earning was to do likewise? Then there would be a decent amount of funds to help those who are now homeless and to help restore decent everyday living conditions to those who have survived.

Hi Anand! There are certainly many sites that have paid me this year and a dollar here and there would not be missed. I would willingly lose them if they could help over there.

Hi mysdianait To be honest this is why I have used the phrase and said MyLot to Lead and Set an example. I am sure there are many members here who are webmasters of different sites and am sure that they can get a hint and implement this idea for their members on their websites. The more people are aware of this, maybe the more will be found helping and standing by the side of the needy.

Corporate Social Responsibility - Every business has a social responsibility to give back to the community.
Hello Sid, You have proposed a very good idea. It will benefit myLot also. When I was studying MBA, there was a concept of Corporate Social Responsibility. The idea behind corporate social responsibility is provide support and help to the needy. It is also known as corporate conscience. This helps in making and maintaining a good market value. These type of activities promote the business of that particular firm and also develops faith in people. No doubt myLot has gained great faith of users, but this will increase that faith and will be beneficial also in many other perspectives. I think this will give an opportunity for the development of good business ethics for myLot. I believe myLot will have a chance in this manner to show their concern for natural calamities and other people on earth. I really appreciate your idea and will always show up in time for such an action if given opportunity.

Hi Narendra I did not know about the MBA point here but it is good to know. Thanks for the Info. But I did not intend any corporate or brand building thing here... If it goes with it great... isnt it?

Another objective though not directly related to MyLot but my starting of this discussion is that - we are surely having some webmasters on this site as members. Maybe they will get the idea and put up some donation buttons on their website where other people can chip in... the objective still is - to get some funds for charity to these people

Yes it is great. What I meant so say was that myLot can support and help us in this type of fund raising. When the amount will go there, it will be called in whose name? Who send this amount? myLot users or myLot -- correct? In this way myLot can help the community or society by showing their corporate responsibility and their concern for the victims. This will further increase myLot's value in many perspectives.

I support this idea completely. For me personally it would be easier to donate from my Mylot account before reaching the cashout balance since it would take a long time to reach it. I would be glad to donate to this cause because thousands of people need someone to reach their hand to help right now. I hope your idea will not remain hanging in the air and will find many supporters which will eventually lead to some action taken. I'll be checking up for updates on this matter. Thanks.

Hi iva Right now I am wondering what MyLot Admin has to say to this... as I realized that in fact this discussion is against the guidelines of MyLot (read rich's response on page 1)... but no worries... I think I have some great friends here who are willing to participate in the Noble Cause and I hope MyLot Admin takes the necessary steps for the same where we all can at least participate and contribute

Thanks... Let me know if you find a way to contribute through our balance... Although until the money becomes redeemed in cashout and it's only virtual, therefore I doubt it someone will agree to such a donation. I hope we'll find a way to help.

hi the sids I am like diana I would love to see this set up and even though I am sorely pressed for funds I could spare a dollar just once. I really have to be so so careful as I actually have'a much smaller budget than most here to work with.I might have to go down to fifty cents as aftre rent and boarde monthly are takne out of my Social securtiy and ssi checks I have only 125 hundred dollars for my own needs for the whole month. and phone and cable internet have to come out of that too.But if enough of us donated what we could it would be a goodly amount and would help I am sure.

Dear Ms Hatley I completely understand the point and also the feelings that you are willing to participate if given a chance... This is why I have proposed the amount to be deducted from the next month's payout (so there is always a chance of us trying to cover it up), also if we are unable to reach the minimum payout that month, the admin might reduce the payout limit for the donator so that s/he gets some payout for that month too... and the amount - starts from USD 1.0... if you want to pay more, no issues... and this is completely voluntary... so you can choose when to participate or not to participate at all

Hi JenInTN Well, I felt to do something for the people trapped across the world in such situations and unfortunately, I have some bad experiences with the charity organizations working here locally and also on the Internet one cannot be so very sure when it comes to trusting anyone with money. Hence I thought of this idea. Unfortunately, it seems that the MyLot Admin is either quite occupied or it came up at the wrong time(Saturday and Sunday are normally off days) but still I am hoping to get a response from the MyLot Admin here for all of us

The idea is good, but I do not think that we can expect so much money : there is certainly not 226,000 active members at myLot, and some active members need the money they earn here.

topffer, I agree with you... some active members do need that money... we dont have to make it mandatory.. I mean I could be earning $10.25 by end of month... each month myLot has the right to round it off to the nearest dollar after the payout.. so I would've contributed $0.25 cent this month.. and it could go on.. for lifetime.. the fund could accumulate, and myLot could use its discretion to allocate the funds..

I meant I could speficially allow myLot to round off the monies in my case.. I am not good in English and really bad in expressing..

Hi topffer Yes, I agree. But my calculations are on assumptions. I believe some of us would donate more that what I mentioned - the 1 USD - like me, I will go with my full month's balance. I did not say it to be a compulsion. A discussion where the participants could say Yes to donate and also put up the amount they would donate

Hi thesids, This is really a good idea, but I think not everyone will be able to donate $1 for others people, they might need to money for the living even thought it is only $1. Each member will have their own choices whether to donate or not. The best way for donation for such disaster fund is you can donate directly to the some organization that will send or use your donation to those people who need it at Japan, you can find the link below and you can choose anyone of them that you like to donate to. http://news.yahoo.com/s/yblog_newsroom/20110311/wl_yblog_newsroom/japan-earthquake-and-tsunami-how-to-help (not a ref link)

Hi yspmyl I completely agree to your views dear and this is why I mentioned in the discussion to keep it voluntary. Those who can and are willing can participate. Thanks for the link dear... Stine too gave us a link for some donation at #1 on page ONE. But dear, I do not have any amount available on Paypal (as the rules for Indians have been changed and we are to withdraw every week) to donate and this is the concern... But still, if I do not find any response from MyLot Admin and there is nothing of this sort happening here, then I will do the donation via these two links... the day I get a payout from MyLot as this is the only website from which I get some money into Paypal today

Great Suggestion. I would willingly give my $1. I would not be deprived of anything if I donate $1 from my myLot earnings. I would think more than 10% would like to donate though. Is there anyway to petition a cause like this in myLot? Should we all individually contact the admin and see what they think? I think lots of people would be quite willing to donate a small sum like that. The only problem with the big charity website (even if we do find a site which accept donation), you see lots of people donating big sums and I usually don't find them friendly towards small donor. And the people who accept small donations, there is always doubt as to their credibility.

Hi zralte I am not sure if there was a petition kind of thing around(I think no, such a thing is not at MyLot, at least I havent seen one, but yes, I have seen admin respond to some discussions and many a times take actions... I had asked for an FR from GAA and if that gets accepted, I would ask GAA to respond to this one... maybe we can see some response or even some action being taken... The reason of my not going to another website for donations is quite the same and also the ones that might accept the smaller amounts, may not be safe and secure to be entrusted with the paypal id. This is why I thought why not ask and share the idea between MyLot community where there are many many users and if many contributed, the amount would be somewhat better and useful at the same time, it would also get members together in a bonding for a noble cause

Hello thesids, I admire you're passion. but mind you, Japan is the MOST ADVANCED and DEVELOP nation in ASIA before South Korea, Hongkong or Singapore for that matter. therefore, they have the ability and resources to make this through. besides, I've heard from sources that they're not even accept international help yet from the Red Cross, see the kind of pride they have. Just imagine if the current Prime Minister did send US base out of Japan, that would have been a huge karma. at least now the US Support isn't far away. They can recover. it's the countries like ours that we should worry about.

Hi LetranKnight Yes, you are right that Japs are much stronger, advanced and developed. They will not take help from the outside world. But I was not talking about the Japs thing only. I was talking about our stand for such events on the global platform... And our newspapers today say that though the tsunami alert has been put away, anything can happen in the next 24-48 hours. So let us be prepared... for the future

Great idea you got their friend! In toneaday I cannot get my money without donating a certain amount set by lymbix to be donated to two institutions. It is forced upon members chosen in a campaign. We get paid high anyway nag giving a little more than a dollar won't hurt our pocket. I hope the admin of MyLot will try the same but of course it should on,y be voluntary.

Hi Toni Yes, I am aware of the toneaday thing as I was on that site some months ago. But they kind of force you to part with a percent of your earning and on a regular basis. Instead, I suggest we at Mylot do it once a year (God-Forbid any more calamities) and it should be voluntary... Only those who agree are to pay. And I trust MyLot more than the toneaday or any other site as MyLot has been paying us ever since we joined without our asking for it
