Has anyone started getting their garden ready? This is my first year having one,so i'm not sure on some things. But I eill learn as I go.I am tired of buyig veggies at store.Ready for some fresh vegetables. That actually have a good taste to them.So far I am planning on tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, peppers, lettuce, cabbage onions and broccoli. Was supposed to be a very small garden with nothing but tomatoes and cucumbers.Kinda went crazy,oh well.It will be used. What are you planting?

It's still kinda cold over here for gardening. Some years ago I planted cabbage and spinach and had huge green worms in it so I kinda got this ugly feeling in my stomach, definitely no cabbage and spinach in my garden. As soon as the weather warms up my first step is to rake the lawn of the debri from snow, put my ornaments back up, solar lights etc. etc. Have some bulbs in my garage for planting, will put those in and then veggie garden in the backyard. Mostly tomatoes and green pepper. Will see how it goes this year and then work on more maybe starting next year. You're correct home grown tastes better.

Oh I can't wait for some fresh tomatoes. But like you I ws supposed to start small this year and if all goes well, expand next year. But everything i put in is something I have to buy at the store. So when it starts producing,I will save then. Some of it we will be able to put up.I still want to plant some onions.About the the only thing left to add.LOL.Hubby says I have too much now.

Too early yet to plant anything here. More than likely tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, pole beans, okra, kohlrabi, radishes are all that come to mind at the minute. We go crazy every year and keep expanding our garden nearly every year!

Thank you.And you are lucky to have friends that have big gardens. My so in law had plans to do a big garden, but he works out of town.So he never got around to it.Which left it up to me.Now I hope i can do it right. If not I will try again.I am bound and determmined to at least have some tomatoes.

I lived in the city where land space is so limited that having a garden is not possible. Back to my childhood hometown,i enjoy planting vegetables. I like tomatoes,i like the red color when it's ripe and it's so fun harvesting the fruits of it. We also plant squash, and i am always excited to see how it becomes bigger and bigger everyday. I missed those days

Yes we didnt have a garden ourselves, but all the aunts and uncles had one. whenever we would visit everyone would go to the garden and help.I loved it,except for the okra.My fatherin law had a garden and he passed away a couple of years ago.My hubby stayed as far away as he could from the garden. So what we are going on is what I hear from other people suggestions.Which I appreciate so much. With everybodys help,I might turn out to be a gardener. My mother lives in an apartment and said she was going to get a tomato plant and plant in a bigger pot and set it outside her door.

yes planting is a interesting thing.I don't plant now, since I have not field. But when I am a child I always plant some unripe-eating plants, such as wild sugarcane, strawberry, tomatoes and so on.I also like plant some kinds of fruit trees, there are fifties plum trees that I plante in my hometown.

hi bretay, I grow vegetables in my garden, also some flowers. It's not very big, so i just plant some kind. Balsam pear grow not very well actually, many bugs above them and a lot of pulps and leaves have been eated. And i'm planning on cabbages and pomelo, maybe the pests will destroy them, i want to have a chance to try. I rarely sprinkle pesticide, it's not good for health, so it seems that planting good products is diffcult for me.

I hope I don't have a hard time.Because I don't do well with plants. And I love flowers so much, they are so pretty.I see other people with these big pretty ferns and colorful flowers, and I am so envious. My mother in could touch something and it would grow. She always waited on mine to almost die and then take them with her.lol.And 2 weeks later you would never have known it came from my house. She had the green thumb. Not me.But I do want to try.I'm hoping my vegetable garden will do ok.I hope.If not,it will be back to buying them at the store.Which I hate to do,they just don't have the same taste as fresh does.

Last year we spent almost $300 putting in a garden with buying boards to go around, more cages, the plants, the seeds, soil and mulch. There is no way we can afford that for this new house. So far I've pulled 2 strawberry plants from the other house as well as some onion bulbs I had planted last year. I am planning on buying 2 tomato plants, 2 bell pepper plants and a packet of snow peas.... I would love to have more, but affordability is an issue. I would love to give cucumbers a try...and pumpkins....and watermelons. I would also like to plant potatoes...and just might cut one up out our bag in the house and plant the eyes of it anyway and see what happens there. Marsha

Yeah I know what you mean about the cost.We had none of the stuff,so we are having to buy it all this year.At least next year we will have some of it to reuse.Oh I can't wait for the tomatoes to start.I am so reasdy for a fresh tomato.

I planted sweet potatoes because there is no need to attend to it once you have planted it already,I surrounded it with cassava for fence and just the same it just grows by itself.

My son in law said yesterday that next year he would help me plant some, because they were easy for him to grow.So in my so called small garden,I guess I'm gonna see if I can find a spot for them.Do they need a lot of space.I love sweet potatoes.I love them cut into fries and baked in oven.Yep definately got to add them to my list.Thank you macayadann for letting me know how easy there. That's the ones I need.
