How do You Feel About Profile Music?

It's happened a few times while browsing profiles on social sites or surfing the web that I land on a website or profile page that suddenly hit me with a blast of music. I imagine that we all like to add our own personality to our profile page, so it's not my place to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't do. Inevitably though, this has happened to me late at night when my Honey is in bed asleep and scaring the bejeesus outta me, so more often than not the sudden blast of sound seemed more like an invasion than an enhancement to my surfing experience especially if it's not particularly my type of music. Personally whenever I hit such a page, my knee - jerk reaction is I make a hasty retreat in order to restore the quiet to my environment. It may well be a great profile page or website that I'm on, but I'm automatically put off by what I perceive to be an invasion of sorts. I'm wondering how others take this type of thing. If you arrive on a profile page or website that greets you with sudden music, do you leave what might be a great web page, or do you hang around? If you do leave, would it make a difference had it been music that you like, or is the sudden shock enough to put you off? xoxo Cyne

Since I am online when I am at work, opening a website or a profile page with music on it is really irritating and work disturbing. Like you, I would just close it and never to open such a website nor profile anymore.

It's disturbing to get such a jolt. And not only is it problematic because there may be someone else in the house sleeping, it's even more of a problem when I have the headset on because then the noise is concentrated. I guess some could argue that maybe I should mute my speakers at night, but not only would I not always remember to do that, but sometimes I go from sites I want to listen to like youtube (hence the headset) to other sites, so having to go back and forth from mute to unmute may turn out to be a pain in the you - know - what. xoxo Cyne

Oh yes, definitely, I often forgot to mute or turn down the volume, so that's why now my laptop speakers are broken from getting a blast of music from some movies. I still don't get it why the music when people have different taste in music. It will surely kill others interest to open the site or the profile.

well, I can understand that the music is an aspect of one's personality that goes into customizing a profile and such. Far be it from me to say take it down, anymore than I would go into someone's home and say stop playing that music or I don't like the way you've decorated. But, if someone was a fan of playing loud music in their homes all the time, and I felt I might get hearing damage or something, I would just not visit anymore. I have found it to be a nice surprise sometimes to come across a player on someone's profile, and found the playlist to be my style of music and then I would take it upon myself to play something. But there have also been times when I have found that extra gadgets make the page load slowly and as I have a short attention span, I might not hang around waiting for someone's page to load. Again, I wouldn't go telling people, "I don't like your page so I'm not coming back." It's a matter of personal taste, so it's not my place to tell anyone what they should or shouldn't have on their profile. I'm sure there are some who don't like my profile too. But if someone asks me why I'm not a regular visitor, then I'll let them know why not. As diplomatically as possible of course. xoxo Cyne

Honestly, if there is music on a profile page, a website, etc., my first reaction is to look and see how to turn it off. I hate to have to leave what I am looking at because of the music. If there are controls, I appreciate having options :) I obviously went to the page in the first place because there was something of interest to me there, so I'd like to stay. I'm generally not as bothered by a running play list as I am by pages that have one very short, poor quality music clip that just plays over and over again. That actually drives me insane so, if I can't turn it off, I do leave.

LOL I know what you mean... it's sort of like sharing a car with another driver who likes to leave the radio on full blast when they shut off the engine. You start it up and nearly rocket out of your seat by that jolt of loud music! ;)

Initially, I tried to find the controls too, but there have been too many times when I couldn't find the player. And like I said, late at night when my Honey is sleeping, it just freaks me and I just want to get outta there. The back button is always easier to find than the music player. I do find I'm a little more relaxed during the day and even more so if the music is to my taste. It's just the night thing when all is silent, and you suddenly get a blast of something unrecognizable that sets my nerves on edge. I almost sent my notebook flying after landing on one of these pages; not to mention it took forever for my heart to settle. And like you, the music loop drives me insane too. xoxo Cyne

LMBO. "Rocket out of your seat" I almost rocketed off my sofa when I read that line. You're too funny. That won't happen in our car because every time you start the engine, the radio resets down to a low level. Which on the one hand can be a good thing, but on the other, it can be just as annoying. Sometimes I'm waiting in the car for my Honey to come out of the store, so I'm listening to the radio while I wait. As soon as I re start the engine, the radio resets and I gotta turn it back up; a little bit of a nuisance. xoxo Cyne

Music help me understand people in most case , if you change it in accordance with the change of you mood ,it is a batter way than words or words of mouth to indicate happy or sad , you need a more private music taste instead of main strain , To your topic . their profile background music doesn't bad enough to putt me off ,all it would do just make me think he or she doesn' understand what they are listening . Not that bad

I've been on some people's profiles that have music players on them and I have found that their playlists often have selections that I like to listen to. If you're saying that the kind of music people put on their profiles gives you insight into their personality, then I concur. It's the surprise factor that gets me. If I had been listening to something earlier in the day, or something recorded at a low level, I might have had my speakers turned up loud, and then I'm not really thinking about that when I stumble onto a profile that suddenly plays music. Especially if it's something that's loud to begin with. If there's going to be music on a profile, I just like to be given the choice whether or not to listen to it, and the chance to prepare if I do. xoxo Cyne
