May be it is for those who use vehicles and have limited income. I feel most of people in my place complaints on the hike of price in fuel. It is adversely affecting other goods also especially those consumer products here. Most of vegetables that are brought from other places are also increased. Moreover it is seen that there would be at lest minimum of 2 times hikes in every year. The charge in bus, taxis, autos and other public transportation that uses petrol is also increased. Mostly the hike in price of petrol/fuel is affected by the common people, may be the mostly middle class society.

The soaring prices of oil is alarming the inflation is inadequately surging to it's knees and there's nothing to stop it moreover the conditions of every non producing petroleum country is very futile and the only target to curve it is to have a stabilize fund to counter it. But too much is too much.I think the center of this oil and petroleum issue is that GREED of the oil producing country to counter act the balance of their resources, oil and fossil fuel are non renewable resources the whole world still have a lot of them, greed thats what make this crisis running about greed spell it g-r-e-e-d.

I agree it is mostly about greed, the price goes up people use less, the cost of crude oil goes down the price stays the same. It's largely due to inflation of oil through the stock market and the fact that oil companies are killing any alternative fuel sources, even though gas is now 10% ethanol. I really think there needs to be an alternative fuel. Should watch who killed the electric car. Another problem is that we use it up about as fast as we can pump it out of the ground. If we had a viable alternative like electric vehicles, it would alleviate the problem to an extent and 3rd world countries would be better off. There will come a time when there just isn't enough oil to go around and it's gonna get a lot lot worse.

Fuel hike is really a pain in the budget. For us who are low-earner it was really difficult to shoulder this expenses. We are living far away from my work and my daughter's school so what we are doing is we all travel the same time with my children. It is an hour earlier than my official time but it is better than waste money from going back again to the house. In the afternoon, we travel back together again so the diesel will be maximize. I hope that there would be an alternate bio-diesel that will be cost effective for all of us.

The recent increase in petrol price is 7.50 rupees per liter, it will effect cost of transportation, which will increase price of all commodities soon, as a guy i have bought petrol at 0.94 rupees, but now it is almost 100 times my friend. Prof.Dr. B.Saraf. PhD

Yes, shamrack, a lot of things have increased their prices. In a matter of weeks everything else will follow, except for the salaries of employees. How i wish we could also have an across the board increase so everybody could cope up with the rising prices again!

Yes SHAMRACK, I also think that the middle class is very much affected by the bad economic situation starting with food and fuel. I am really sure that there are other ways for the government to save then to rise the prices of food and fuel. Why is the middle class in some European counties like Germany, the Swiss, France or Sweden better off then the middle class in the US?- Maybe it is the fear of the rich to lose some of their money by allowing the government to socially help the middle class a little more?-

The cost of fuel affects everything including a lot of businesses. Think of everything that uses gas, fire trucks, police vehicles, farm equipment to make grain, trucks to transport to process and again to the store. Since is everything is shipped it is all affected by fuel costs. When inflation goes up the basic goods that the middle class buys all the time can take another 5-10% of their income to buy the same things where the upper class may only spend .1% more of their income on the same things. As for why the European countries do better is because they have a more socialist form of government for one. Everyone pays a little higher taxes, but in the end everyone has more not the just rich few. The second is the income difference. A little research tells me that CEO pay in Europe is about $4 million a year in US $10 million a year. Average European worker pay is better than American. Also remember that huge bank bailout to free up money so banks could start lending and it went to pay overpaid employees of failing companies? That's why...

i guess its part of the commodities that are going too high because its hard to replenish the oil supply. i guess we can be assured that the price will take a hike rather than a dip.

At the moment we are in a recession. A lot of price hikes have happened. Funnily enough my local petrol station moved its position. It wanted to be nearer the main road and not at the back of its supermarket hidden away. The price of petrol has increased considerably and I hate buying new petrol because it comes to so much money. Fuel costs for buses, coaches, taxis and planes have also increased. When I fly on a plane there is often a fuel surcharge. Food and drink prices have got higher. Many people have been made redundant and some people have had to change from working full time to working part time. Lots of people have less money available and find the petrol costs very high. It is shocking to say they are likely to go even higher. Is there a limit is what I am wondering.

Yes, fuel went up so high that nowadays you would rather stay home. Everything else has gone up as well as fuel but the salaries that we have with our current companies do not. So yes indeed it has affected us so much that sometimes you think of just riding a cab to work but the hassle of waiting for one and traffic just makes you rethink your decision of taking a cab than just bringing your car.

Hi Shamrack! It depends on which country you are a resident. Here in the gulf region, petroleum products are very cheap, in fact a liter of water is more expensive than a liter of gasoline. However, prices of commosdities are still going up and the locals started to stage strikes and protest demanding for higher wages. The rich will not be affected by these rising prices of commodities as they are always rich. It is the working class who's always affected.

The cost of fuel has gone up too much if you ask, as this has put up the price of everything in the super markets. It is a real shame that this is causing alot of people to struggle even more with all those bills. Also all the electric companies as well as heating companies have put all the cost up so high as well.
