1) PayPal will ALWAYS address you by name. If the email is addressed to "PayPal User" or something similar, ignore it. 2) PayPal will NEVER send a link which will take you to your account or invite you to log in. If the links LOOKS genuine, hover your mouse over it and look at the status bar. This will tell you where the link REALLY would take you to. It is very likely a spoof log in page.

@zksharjit: Yes, if the http: in the internet address bar becomes https, then it indicates it is a secured and legitimate Paypal website. If not, then you have to be careful. They may be phishing you.

Paypal uses an encrypted site to achieve security. If anything is wrong with your account, just go directly to the Paypal website by typing in the address on the URL bar. Paypal will give you instructions of the things you need to do to bring your account to good standing. Also, Paypal do not threaten its customers by making a sense of urgency such as "This must be completed within 7 days otherwise your Paypal account will be permanently suspended." Your account will never be permanently suspended within 24 hours or even within 7 days upon receiving an email from them. The only accounts that gets permanently suspended are the accounts that have multiple claims filed against them and those that requires multiple proofs of ownership due to "shaddy transactions". Paypal follows a due process and it takes weeks and even months before an account is considered for suspension. Nothing really happens when you report or forward phishing emails to Paypal support. They will not be reliable if you fall for phishing emails so it is very important that we know how to spot a scam. Scammers are getting smarter and smarter so we really have to be careful.

I get these types of fake emails from Paypal every once in a while. Luckily it's not too hard to determine that they are indeed fake. If you haven't already, be sure to send this into Paypal. It helps them weed out the fakes and stop these people!

That really sounds like a scam, make people believe that you have verify your account once again by login with your username and password. That is really sucks too. I think you should call paypal customer service to verify whether that email is legit or no.

Why I have to ask for it, while I'm sure that was a scam email. Like I already said, the email address was from co.uk domain not from Paypal.com
