That's a big dog! Need to be sure you have plenty of room for such a big one. RIght food would be something to look into. I had a sheperd and lab mix and it was a great dog! They are smart and have great personalities. Easy to train and all that. They need alot of exercise and attention. Basically you have your work cut out for you!

We have a lab now a black one. She is the best dog I have ever had. She is loving, protective and gentle with my children. She lays on the floor with them crawling all over her and she is never happier then when they are napping with her. We got her when I was pregnant with number 3. They are my twins I say because they are always together. If I am doing something and don't here number 3 talking (very rare by the way) I will find her usually curled up using the dog as a pillow asleep on the floor with her. The only problem we have is that she is very over bred. Do to this she has hip, skin, and internal issues. If you are getting one make sure the breeding line is very varied to avoid this. She also has dry pads on her feet which the vet said is normal for the breed. We just give them a quick wipe with olive oil each night and there is no problem.

I have a labrador retriever as a house. They are very friendly loving dogs; all I know is labrador is easy to train, better to train them when they are a puppy, they are very energetic, need to exercise everyday; they like to swim, they will be happy dogs if you take them to swim. They are not a diffcult type of dogs to handle, but you need to be careful about they hips and joints, they are famous for having problems with them.

Labs are some of the best most loyal dogs to have. I have two lab mixes. One is a lab/husky mix. The only don't I can say is the same with any dog, don't over discipline it. Give it a great balance of love and discipline. These are the best dogs around children also. They are very gentle. Good luck with your new pet. I am sure you will enjoy it.
