Do You Like to Write Poetry??

As some friends may have noticed, I started a discussion in a way that was not allowed, so it was deleted. So now I just ask a simple question and see it it works better. Believe it or not, my ability to write in English has improved a lot as it is not my native language. A few poems were even published some years ago. Here is a poem I wrote - I think it was the first one in English. I wrote it to encourage those who may have big changes in their life. - Whatever they are, there is always light in the end of the tunnel no matter how dark it is around us.. Look for New Doors You close a door You miss the light of the place you came from But when your eyes get used to the darkness you see another door and a small stripe of light The longer you stay there in the darkness the more doors you will see You can open them all It is your choice where you go in

Nice poem. I write too and have a small collection. Here is one. DROP THE ATTITUDE Drop the attitude walk with me You will view the world the way I see The flowers the trees will catch your eye To the material world you’ll say goodbye The four legged kind will draw you out Their unceasing love there’s no doubt Your caring heart will try and reach The helpless kind, without a breach. To bond with those that you love and care The struggle forever will be there You will feel the tugs now and then But that will end we don’t know when You need to strive a heart to win It may not be your kith or kin The world is there at your feet A good heart you’re sure to meet. Plan you life plan it well But what’s our future none can tell So be it come what may Sun is shining make your hay Come with me, stop being you You’ll see the world in a different hue The flowers, the trees will catch your eye, To the material world you’ll say goodbye

Very inspiring poem! What I carry away from your poem is: No need to be afraid of the darkness, deal with it for a while and then see what other doors are available. Darkness is not necessarily bad, just an occasion to maybe do something else.

Dear Friend I think you understood my poem better than I did myself.. If we take the darkness as something positive, we might find something we have never thought of before! Very encouraging, thank you

on your comment. What you state about looking in the darkness to find something positive is very much in line with the saying "if God brings you to it then He will bring you through it." But we have to wait and be patient which goes against the grain of this world. Did you see my poem about Mylot?

Mylot Has a Place in My Heart A place that was challenging I sought A place to unburden when distraught It does not exist they all thought Then a friend recommended Mylot A place to make friends I had sought To share the deep things in my heart Like a fly in a web I was caught From the first time I visited Mylot To stay away I have at times sought But the ropes of Mylot are drawn taut And to stay away from Mylot I cannot Since Mylot has captured my heart On many days much joy it has brought Without visiting Mylot I would rot So every day I come back to this spot For Mylot has a place in my heart

I suppose thresholds are important imageries in poetry. I recall writing a poem for a class in seventh grade and my title was: What is there behind that door? Although my poem was published in our school paper, I couldn't remember the lines now... maybe something like this: I had been living on earth roughly Everyday is filled with suffering and pain But wait!, what is that I see? A door? What is there behind that door? I see! The grace of God is behind that door. For me! Something like that. The poem lacked real verse and rhyme, very childish, and when it was published, I was . Good thing none of my friends laughed.

No problem - these things happen sometimes. Some glitch? What a beautiful poem! Rhyming is not necessary, that is the freedom of a poet, to write down their own thoughts! Our biggest problem can be the lack of self confidence, so why not work on that. I have responded in many positive discussions here in myLot - we just have to keep thinking good thoughts even of ourselves! Just keep on writing, there is a poet in everyone of us..

You must keep uo the poetry as that was beautiful. You write with an amazingly warm undercurrent. I look forward to hearing more in the future.

I have enjoyed writing poetry since I was introduced to it in a high school english class. My love for both reading and writing poetry is still inspired even to this day. Poetry is a way for creativity and expression to come alive.

...Hi there buenavida, I love words and I am creative, I also paint as you do, so the genes came though from someone long ago. Words are powerful and can be used in many positive ways as well as nergitive ways. Your poem is great and quite inspirational. Here is another of mine that you might enjoy. Please visit www.authspot.com/writers/quiet+ voice.8137 if you are interested in reading more. Thank you. When words become swords, Which pierce your mind, Take yourself away from the pain. Place your very being inside, a Strong, impenetrable, invisable shield.

When I was in college and I feel bored, I have a seatmate and a friend who would scribble some poetry on his notebook and I would sometimes read them and really find it amazing. So I was inspired by her and started to right my own poetry. I never thought I could write one but I did. Writing poetry helped me moved on from a heartbreak.

Hi, sweet_pea We can inspire each other to write poetry. Some of my friends are writing and it helps me doing it too. It is great that you got help to move on by writing poetry! A good thing is that we can have hidden talents that can come up in certain situations. Life can sometimes be exciting..

I love writing poems. You can put meanings in your words in a way you couldn't do normally and you can try to activate some feelings in the reader of the poem with just a few words. So in my opinion poems are something very strange in this regard because 2 lines out of a poem can tell you a much longer story then your friends within a few minutes! Unfortunately my english isn't good enough to write some english poems but someday I have improved my English may be wide enough to write some good english poems too. Keep up your good work! (as far as I can tell) ;)

Thank you crocki134 I think your English is very good. I studied German at school but would not be able to write poems in that language even if I read some poems that time. I am taking some shortcuts by choosing simple words and also go to an online translator and check if the word is OK and the spelling is correct. This is a great way to learn the language. I listen to the Bible in English sometimes, a modern translation, and that improves the language too. I can also load down other literature on jw.org - and I learn many other things at the same time, including pronounciation and about the wonders in the nature in the Awake magazine. Yes, poetry is a great way to express yourself and your feelings and create something great in a few words.

Thank you so much for your comment.... We are here to learn from each other, and sometimes poetry can be helpful as it goes directly to the heart.. I am sure you will open new doors in the future, and maybe tell us here about it. Maybe you like to read more poetry. Many of us write in Triond - I have the same username there as in myLot. I have written in Bukisa too, so you can find the same poems there.. Have a great day...

I don't know why this isn't allowed but maybe it is because you are not monitoring your discussions?? I dont know though i havn't used mylot in a long time i think that used to get discussions deleted. I used to write poetry when i was a child i havn't done it for a long time but i do like to hear a sweet poem every know and then that touches my heart.

I started the earlier dicussion as a challenge to write a poem, and that is considered a poll type of discussion and not allowed. No problem, I think this discussion is probably OK.. I have a couple of links on the website in my profile where I have written poetry. I also like to paint, so maybe one day I´ll combine the both and make some painted poetry cards that can be sent to encourage others. Maybe you get inspired and start writing again..

Poetry is a great way to express your inner feelings and emotions and what you have written here is really nice and certainly shows that even when someone feels that there is only darkness all around them and things can never get better there is always a light and a way out to a brighter future. Carry on with your good work.

Thank you LeighB Yes, creating something gives us a lot of happiness and a poem can reach someone who needs encouragement - who knows, we might help many by just thinking positive thoughts and writing them down. Thanks for your encouraging comment!!
