The QWERTY arrangement is by no means the most efficient. It also favors left-handed people. The DVORAK keyboard layout is more efficient. But QWERTY has remained the standard layout.

I have to disagree. How can you say that the DVORAK keyboard is more efficient? Have you tried one yourself before? And what do you mean by 'it favors left-handed people'? I'm a lefthanded person but I've seen many right handed friends type as fast and as accurate as lefthanded ones. There is a reason why the QWERTY keyboard is the standard for many years, you know.

blackscrumpy what I was trying to mean by saying it favors left hand people is that thousands of English words can be spelled using the left hand in the QWERTY if you have ever known that know it and take advantage of it

well i have seen an image of it but haven't really seen one. unfortunately you need to readjust yourself to learn the dvorax layout. But they say it is more efficient.

I remember seeing a photograph of it. As Understand it it was so efficient that typists typed too fast for the typeface mechanism leading to tangled typeface arms. That was why the QWERTY became the standard layout. With the use of electronic keyboards the typing speed problem is reduced. I think there should be a shift towards the Dvorak layout. I wish I could get my hands on a Dvorak keyboard.

First time I heard of DVORAX keyboard. I don't think it will be easier, because we have to memorize again where the letters are located. I want an ABCDE keyboard!
