Are there any shows where you wish you could live there too?

There are shows on t.v. that make me sometimes wish I could just enter my t.v. and live there. The way the people interact, the sets, everything about the world makes me want to escape into it. What shows do that for you?

I grew up in the 70's when Sesame Street and The Brady Bunch were on the air. These were what I call the "paradise" I wished to live in. But then I grew up and I realized life is unfortunately not like Sesame Street where all people are nice to each other. I think life is more like an 80's horror movie where you're all alone in your struggles, no one wants to help you (not even the police), and people (your backstabbing officemates, neighbors) are ready to take you off the face of the earth :) But like any Hollywood movie or TV show which has a happy ending, i'm also waiting for my happy ending in life. Maybe I'll win the lottery at age 65. hahaha :)

Warriorx: I'm sorry you feel that way about life. It's true that it's not The Brady Bunch, but there's a lot of goodness that far surpasses the cookie cutter world of American sitcoms. I would say that life is a Drama where you have your ups and downs and not every ending is happy, but if you look, there's meaning. And there's beauty. I'm not saying that pain is good and you should embrace it, but sometimes people fixate too much on the ugliness that they forget the beauty that's all around them. Though sometimes it feels like Jason or Freddie is ready to come get you, normally, it's just a dream sequence. However, I'm just a name on a bulletin board. I mean no offense and hope that your lottery ticket is a winner before you reach 65.

Burrito88: You mean professional sweater wearer wasn't an occupation in the '50s, there goes a lifetime of belief. I actually liked Ozzie and Harriet when I saw them on reruns. What I couldn't stand was Donna Reed. What was up with that family? She was annoying the kids were dumb and Dad (other than being easy on the eyes) was a wandering figure sailing through the house. As for Ozzie, I think the adventures they had were raising their sons. And given what happened to Ricky, it was definitely adventurous.

If you grew up in te '50's or '60's you would have had Leave It to Beaver or My Three Sons. Then there was The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet where frankly, I don't know what real adventures they had nor do I know what Ozzie did all day long except walk around wearing a sweather and wait for someone with a problem.

How about shows like Cheers of Seinfeld where nobody ever seemed like they had major problems, except perhaps George.

Sitcoms are good for that. And what better place to spend your days then at a bar where everyone knows your name. I don't know though, some of the characters in that show really got on my nerves. I'd probably end up sitting in a corner drinking my water wondering what I had to do to get into Moonlighting. Or MacGyver.

I used to think about the show LOST like that. The island, I wish I was on there. They had everything and it was amazing. I would've loved to live there. :-)

As much as it pains me to admit it, I've never seen the show. I know it was filled with adventure and mystery and was set on a beautiful tropical island. I can definitely understand wanting to be a part of adventures like that. I think people have always been fascinated by the mysteries that lurk in isolated places.

A lot of people wonder what it would be like to live on the Upper East Side with the bank account to match. Sitcoms offer such great comraderie. They present a silly, but idealized version of the world we live in. I love the friendships and the silliness that gets wrapped up in them.
