Indie films anyone?

Hello! I am a movie enthusiast and I especially love watching movies because of the way it is made, as well as a good screenplay. I am not really convinced with the movies they play in theatres, which are blockbusters, but most are nonsense stories to me. I prefer little-known movies, that are able to tell a good moral of the story. So, has anyone watched a good film lately? Can you recommend it to me? What did you like about the film? Thank you!

My favorite independents are: Me and You and Everyone We Know - starring, directed and written by Miranda July.. she plays a quirky girl who wants to be close to people but is missing that in her life because the world is so cold.. this movie is about dialogue and the lack of it, portraying the perspectives of several different people who live separate lives. Duck Season - This didn't really have a moral but it was very tasteful.. it brought out emotions in me that I don't feel when watching typical movies.. it's just a story of childhood but very funny and stylish. Mammoth - I believe this is independent.. it's sort of the same kind of story as the first, except told VERY differently. It's newer, and I would recommend this more because it speaks on an international level. I think it was made very tastefully with attention to detail, although sometimes it was a bit too dramatic.

I've already watched Before Sunset! It was really interesting, but I guess I should have watched the prequel to that to understand it more. :)

Well it would be helpful to know what kind of indie films you enjoy. I'm a indie film lover too, but most of the indie films I enjoy are Christian or Fantasy/Science Fiction or just feel-good family films. I recently saw Soul Surfer (an inspirational/true story) in theaters and I really enjoyed it. I rented You're So Cupid, a girly teen indie movie off of iTunes and I thought it was cute (but I can see other people gagging over it. lol) What indie movies do you enjoy? I'm also looking for some more.

I enjoy any type of movies except horror and slasher film. slice-of-life type of stories are what I most prefer. I like films with a very good cinematography, because they're more pleasing to look at. Even the melancholic type of films! I have heard of Soul Surfer. It's a Christian film I believe. My friend suggested it to me as well as other similar films. :)

You're So Cupid had some beautiful cinematography, but like I said... it's a girly pre-teen movie with a dash of fantasy. Soul Surfer had some beautiful shots too, mostly just cause of the surroundings but I tend to count that with cinematography myself. Well I haven't seen too many slice-of-life films, but I'll recommend a few when I do see some.
