Broken forearm

About 7 weeks ago I broke my radius and ulna playing basketball. I was fouled going up for a lay up and came down and tried to break the fall with my hand. Unfortunately, my forearm snapped in half. It was a compound fracture, which means the bone came out of the skin. It is probably one of the most gruesome breaks you could imagine. I'm 19, and once you are an adult they have to do surgery. They put a plate in both bones and 12 screws. After 7 weeks, I already have full use of my arm, which after seeing my forearm bent at a 90 degree angle, is amazing to me. If anybody has any questions about the recovery because the similar thing has happened to you, let me know. I could answer just about anything pertaining to a broken radius and ulna. Be careful!!!

oh bless your heart! My daughter thought she had broken hers last week, but it turned out that it was only torn ligaments. However, the doctor told her that it would probably have been better if she had broken something. She is in a cast to keep the ligaments still until they reattach. She was changing clothes and came down and hit her elbow on the edge of the counter. She said she thought she'd just bumped her funny bone. But the next morning her arm was swollen three times it's size and she had no feeling in her hand. Her fingers were cold. My sister, who is a nurse, took her to the doctor she works for. So she was able to get treatment quickly, even though it was the weekend. He told Lauren that all the tendons and ligaments from her elbow to her wrist were completely torn away from the bone. She's looking at 7-8 weeks in a cast and then another month of physical therapy. Hope you're healed completely soon!
