Favorite Homemade Dessert

Okay, so I'm trying to get some ideas, I want to start baking and cooking. So lets start with favorite desserts, because seriously who doesn't love the perfect homemade dessert. I have a few, my mother in-law makes the best carrot cake its moist and has the perfect amount of nuts. My moms desserts in general are amazing, but her pies are perfect. She makes a sour cream apple pie that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. So I need some ideas of perfect deserts.

Mine always ask for my cheesecake. It is my Aunt's recipe and was always mt favorite growing up. Now I make it for special occasions because it is a recipe that takes a lot of time to make but it is so worth doing it right!
