Well i know poke in a very long time as a function in facebook. But until now, i don't really know when should i use that function. The only time i use that function is when some one poke me and i just poke them back. Do you know what the actually function of POKING, and when the right time we should use this function, and to whom we should actually use this function. Thanks for your reply my friend.

There is no specific way or reason to Poke somebody. It is just a fun way to flirt or let somebody know that you know they exist pretty much. I have poke battles still that are over a year old haha.

Wowwwwwk, A Poke Battle...!!! The name sound nice, and it seem i already grasp the idea. Is it that you poke some one, and then the other person poke you back, and then you poke back, and on and on to a never ending battle of poking. I surprised it could last that long. A year is a very long time for a poke battle. The poke battle that i have only last for a week, and it only take about 4 or 5 pokes. Well, thanks for sharing this with us.

Yes, i did it with some of my friends..! :D But the poke battles is not last more than weeks i guess.. :D I poke him or her and they poke me back, and so on. If anyone of us did not poke back in 24 hours then he or she lose.. :) thats quite fun for sometimes, in a longer times, it get boring :D Have a nice day guys! :)

Oh.. i though it is a one year battle of poking, but it seem is not last until a week too. Well it sure fun, but poking for a year must be a very boring thing to do. But now, since you can access facebook from about anywhere ( since mobile facebook is really easy and fun to use ), if you want too you can make a poke battle that last really long.

When you just fee like it. I poke back when someone pokes me too. Maybe if you want haven't seen that person in along time or you just want him or her to notice you- you poke them, and see if they poke back.

Yes, you might be right. I think most people use it just to say hi, in a very unique way. So they use poke to just get connected. Did you ever start a poke before mr stanley? I mean you the one whose poke first, not just replying. Anyway, thanks for your information. I really appreciated it. Have a nice saturday night.

Yes, poking some one will surely make people notice you. Maybe if some one too busy too notice you, simply receiving your poke will make him / her simply remind of you. it might make they start checking your wall and seeing your status and updates, and before long, they may start talking to you on facebook ( or they might even called you ).

I use this feature to let my closest friends know that I am thinking of them. Before school I would visit their profile and leave little messages, but I don't have time anymore, so this is a way for them to know, I am still here, just way too busy!!!

Oh yes, this is also a can do use for poking function in facebook. Saying that your busy in a wall is kinda make you look like an arrogant person, but with poking, it will make them notice that you still care but you don't have the time to make a comment. Anyway, thanks for sharing this with us my friend.

Hi. lordcaocao2025. I believe that you should only use poking when you want to say "hi" to someone or when you want them to know that you notice them on Facebook. That is my only reason for poking someone on Facebook. Poking is just a fun and a friendly gesture of each person being nice and trying to get ones attention. I only poke certain people on Facebook that pokes me. I don't poke many guy friends back because they always seem to think that I want to be more than friends with them. And I don't poke my male cousin anymore, because he took me poking him in the wrong way, like flirting. I may poke my cousin back when she pokes me. I usually will poke females back before I poke a male back.

hahaha..dont take it too seriously, lordcaocao! :D i am a girl, so maybe it is easier for me to do such a thing, poking my friends :D just poke someone you know well, which will not response negatively to your action.. :) Sometimes i poke my friends which i do not see often, or not seeing each other for a long time, just like to say "hi!" in an unique way.. :) Hope that can help :) Have a great day!

@cgirl : Yeahm you are right. I think there is no real use and real time to use a poke. Everything back to all of us. We can use it for about anything. And i agree with you, most of my friend that poke me usually old friend that are rarely in contact with. Thanks for your respond. @rayan : yeah, you should create a facebook account. Try it, and maybe some old dude might poke you :p

I think it is just a friendly gesture. I have never used it but some people have sent me some on there before. I never poked back though because I do not do much with Facebook.

Yes, it is could be use as a friendly gesture. Well, if some one poke me, i mostly poke back, but there are times when i don't poke back, it mostly because i don't really know the person whose poke me. Anyway, it is very easy to poke back if you know you got pocked, because the poke back button is below the "you've been poke" information. So i think you should poke back, but well, off course every person have their own way of using thing. Thanks for being active in my discussion my friend.

To tell somebody that you're there...nothing really...it's just a poke as it's named.

Well yeah, i know it just that. But some people might have some creative way to use then. Like you, try to say that you were here. Or like the comment before which tell the person we poke to give them report ( about job or something else ), or simply saying hi to an old friend. Anyway, thanks for your respond to this poke story.

i use this function of facebook, poke, when i need people to report to me.
• Indonesia
14 May 11
Well, this is new to me. Most people usually only want to catch up with old buddies, but you use it to make people report to you. It is really a good way to use this, i will also start using poke this way. Anyway, what kind of report do you want from those people? Is it job related? or it is a report about something else? Anyway, thanks for your respond in this poke discussion.

I poke friends that av not being able to see for a very long time. to me, it simply means, u're still on my mind, i do think of you

Well it is also the same with most of us here thinking. Yes, i also agree that it is the most popular use of poke. Giving a wall massage or a private message saying you are still in my mind is kinda give the receiver some awkward feeling. But with poking, he / she know what you mean with out them having those awkward feeling. Thanks for sharing your view in this poking discussion.
