I actually own a pretty old computer with just 256 MB of RAM and 64 MB of Inbuilt Graphics Processor . The problem kick in when I try to play some good games . It says I have a deficient RAM while my processor is very good ( 2.81 GHz ) . But these DDR RAMS are way too costly as compared to a Graphics card . So would a good graphics card probably 1 GB will be able to run games like FIFA 11 even in presence of my 256 MB RAM or should I increase my RAM also ??

No. A graphics card has its own dedicated RAM. Thus it will not be using part of the system's RAM for its processes. Ideally you should upgrade both to get maximum satisfaction in playing games like FIFA 11. Try getting at least 1 Gb of RAM. Those having inbuilt graphics chip should consider 2 Gb or more, so that the maximum amount of system RAM can be reserved for it.

Would adding 2GB of graphics equate to adding 1GB RAM and 1GB graphics card separately ??

Your system's RAM is allocated differently than the graphics card RAM. SO no, you cannot use a bigger graphics card. Or more like, you can use it, but it won't do you any good. 256MB of RAM is too low for games nowadays, unless you plan to play games more than 6 years old. Additionally, your graphics card is not enough either, so you might need a new one, at a separate board and not built-in. Therefore, you need both to manage to run any recent games properly.

Unfortunately that wont work, what I would recommend that you do is upgrade your memory as well as your gfx card, I would suggest you search sites such as tigerdirect.com and so forth, or even ebay. you'll be surprised at what you can find on the web.

Graphics card cannot be used as RAM. They are only dedicated towards providing better graphics. If you are playing games like FIFA you should have more RAM to support the graphics card.

graphic card only helps processing great graphic and it can't work as your ram as you need a ram to support the graphic card. Higher the ram memory, faster would your system work and your graphics would spread out that quickly as well, along with the quality that your graphic card provides. you don't want great graphics to load like slow speed dial up internet, do you? you definitely need higher mem rem or more rams.

Graphics card is similar to RAM but it is dedicated memory for rendering the Graphice. But I think you need to upgrade your RAM as well so to be able to run other softwares as well. It is best you Upgrade your RAM as well as Graphics Card.
