Do you think more possessions bring more happiness?

Many times, we think that more possessions can make our life better and comfortable but more posessions bring in more trouble. The materialistic means, if not used properly, rob us of peace and happiness. Less things help make life joyful and jubilant. What do you say?

I don't believe it is the possessions we own that will bring us happiness. I believe it is what we do with what we have that will bring us that happiness instead.

I think more possessions bring 1/4 of your happiness but it doesn't make you completely happy. I think other things make you happy such as romance and taking care of yourself brings you plenty more happiness.

If a person has hundreds of possessions then a cluttered home could make them feel miserable. Imagine having a book case and then having many more books that don't fit on it. Thinck about a loft or an attic that has many treasures in but they are lost. These special things might be hidden away and would be hard to find. I think to be happy and person needs good health and good luck. The person doesn't need loads of possessions to have much happiness.

I agree with you on this totally! Having more makes you want more and then you start spending money you don't have. That will make you even more miserable! No thank you, I will settle for my computer and enough things for survival (food, cooking utensils of some sort, and shelter) I don't need a tv or a stereo or any of that expensive garbage. I am happy living a very simple life.

I will say that there are alot of people that have lots of things that are all the latest things, but what some poeople do not see as alot of these people have them on credit, that means that they are not paid for.I do not think that it makes people happy, as some people try to compete with other people and that is why they have all these things.

For me i don't think so. We don't have to, it don't matter at all just live our life in a simple way, not in sympathy. Those thing is just temporary on, it somehow explains by these statement... "What comes around goes around..." :-)

Throughout my life, I have seen rich people who are completely dissatisfied with life and poorer people who have been very happy. Happiness is nothing to do with possessions or riches, but more to do with being comfortable with yourself and others. _Derek

Happiness does not depend on possessions. I think most important is love. If I had many possessions but not love I would not be happy. I mean that one must have a loving person besides whom to share joys and sorrows. This may bring happiness because you are not alone. Also great achievements on professional level bring happiness to me. But if I had a castle and lands but no love and no achievements I would be very sad.

In my opinion it is better to have everything in moderation. Not too much and not too little so we will not drawn to be greedy or nothing. We will in trouble if we have nothing at all and we put ourselves in trouble too when we have everything and demand for more~ Simply say live in simple and moderation life~

yep what you said is absolutely true and I agree to it. adding some more point to it, i think the more we get, the more we want. it's just human nature. we do not think of all the wonderful things we have but we keep wanting for more. this is really bad and i wanna change this habit of mine but it seems to be a tough job!!

Simple living with love and respect among members of the family is better. It is good to have not so much and not too less. Because having more than enough makes us to look for more and thus always to tame the running away satisfactions for happiness while having nothing at all makes us to wander to fill up the craving for satisfaction. If we have more possessions, time will come that we will just leave all of these although we have peace of mind for the security of our future, we do not know for how long we will hold these things because we are all destined to leave all of these but we do not know when. Live life to the fullest.

As we make our way through life, working hard to meet our daily needs and even trying to get ahead, let us give more priority to that which is profoundly of more importance - the enduring wealth of eternal life that is gained through the blood of Christ, until the end.

Well, I'm happy for what I have now. More possessions will be good from my point of view, but do it necessary for my life. Only God who knows the best for you so take it easy and enjoy the life. If you can feel satisfied for what you already have, He will give something more for you. Yet if you're not satisfied with it, how could you have something more?

For me, living with our love ones makes us happier than those who posses materials without having family who love him/her for what they are. However, living with your love ones or your family having more money or material things makes the family happier as long as they are together... But in the real life, because of material possession some family broke up.

Hello mallu! ^_^ Yes, it's nice to have things that we can possess but there are times those moments of happiness can be bad also specially when our attitudes have changed because of what we possess. Always remember that whatever comes up must come down. If you possess something that you don't have before, always keep in mind that you didn't own anyone just by having something they don't have. You do not have the right to be over those people who don't do anything to you. Sometimes possessing anything that others don't have can be hard, like you said, it can be a harmful thing for people to think bad things and try to get something from you. Specially when you are cruel to them. Some will think bad things to you as well and causing them to be a thief or something. It's not about what we have, it's about what makes us happy.

Well the thinking of having more possession is just a passion of us. But to be honest in modern age the person with more possession always enjoy the life better. Money is everything in life in current age. But money can't buy someone happiness but can surely afford something which will increase happiness. If you see the kids today, you will notice that they want pocket money more than toys and games.

i do not think so.when someone owns many possessions he will think more of how to protect it or how to earn more.there are many extra pressure from thinking of that.when someone is not rich, his life is usual,he do not worry too much about his life.if only he has a warn family,he must be happy.so it is not a good way to judge a man who is happy or not by how rich he is?

For me,it's not the number of possessions you have. it doesn't matter if you had all the things you want. but it's the way that you love and enjoy the things that you already have without taking advantage of someone.
