Dear Mommy Dionisia Pacquiao,

Hi, Mommy D, you are in the news once again. Happy Birthday! I heard Jinkee say she bought a Hermes bag for you, worth a million bucks, was it? And you had perfected the Tango pas de deus, as well as had your face cleansed and prettified. Well and good! In life, we should really celebrate our birthdays with thanksgiving amongst friends... I see you have ex-con, I mean, ex-prez Erap for a guest... Where and when were you friends? I can't seem to recall the two of you brushing elbows in the past... but then again, I am not always attuned to the news... Your party reception venue looks grand, it must definitely be lavish! Ergo, it must be expensive. Your friends would reason that you deserve such a party, being the mother of the Pambansang Kamao or National Fist, Manny Pacquiao. I also believe you deserve happiness and merrymaking, I just hope, kinda hope, that you don't get too overwhelmed by the noise of the party that you don't already know if you are enjoying the party or your guests are laughing at you... By the way, I am a humble Filipino mylotter who wishes better news for our suffering people, instead of seeing Jinkee talk about your million buck bag. After the party, I do hope you take a look back and start feeding the undernourished children instead of dancing... Sorry mylotters, I had to write this before we begin to believe that getting from rags to riches means lavish partying...

I understand how you feel about all this, although I haven't caught wind of this news yet. Some people just can't handle fame and fortune as well, I guess. It's just a shame that our country seems to focus more on the lives of celebrities on television than all the suffering that's right outside our doors.

Envy is the root of all evil..... This Mommy D. has no fault on whatever happens to the sufferings of the poor Filipinos.... why don't you yourself start to feed first this hungry Filipino people? Yesterday: Give FISH ROD to the poor people instead of Money and Food.... Today: FISH ROD is available, but for rent.... and as for Mommy D, all that i can say is... Live Life to the Fullest, its not your fault.... since we people here on earth live at around 80 years of age more or less, life happily, enjoy, happiness is the most important thing..... A mother will only be addressed as a successful in life if its child are professional. The only reason why the people in their future becomes a poor in life because they are so very lazy during their teenage years.... their parents send them to school but what the students do is schooling in the mall with their girlfriend or their boyfriend and the money that they spend for their dating is the money that their parents earned hard work.... and in the future, they are poor, envy to the successful family is what they put in mind.... and to take a note also that regarding the feeding of the poor family in Philippines, it's the Government duty to settle that, for there are Government Institution that secure these poor family in the Philippines..... remember, we, the Filipino citizens are always obligated to pay plenty of high taxes to the government; it's the government duty to solve this problem on poor family. But to tell you frankly, Typhoon Frank rushes here in Iloilo City Philippines, and big floods happened here, the flood are the most terrible flood happened on all years in Iloilo, i know you heard it too..... but the only donations to the flood victims here in Iloilo that i know is a big donations donated by Manny Pacquiao.... therefore, it is true that: when you do good deeds to someone = no one remembers.... but when you do good things to enjoy yourself = everybody envy's..... envy is the root of all evil....

I'm aware it's the government's job to support the people and I'm also aware there are people who don't work for their keep. I know Manny gives what he can to the people of the Philippines. The point here is the extravagance of the party. Frankly, I don't see why people should envy those who would spend so much on something as pointless as a million dollar bag. I agree that people, especially parents, deserve to be happy and to live comfortably when their children succeed. However, there is such a thing as 'living below your means'. I agree that there are a lot of people who are not financially capable because they did not work hard. However, there are people who are poor because they were born in poverty and never had the means to live a better life. Lastly, please don't preach about something so general that everyone is all too aware of it and don't generalize when you make your arguments. Good day to you.

OMG i am so happy someone here also thinks that way of her because i am! yeah yeah they do deserve their riches but does she really have to flaunt it? honestly it was pretty irritating watching that news of her having her facial cmon!! hahaha And yes i hope there is better news than that of hers and her party... yes yes she do deserve that because she is the mother of pacquio..but if they are really MAKAMASA... those millions of pesos should have been given to chilren..maybe an aide for their school... or that hermes bag worth millions could have been millions of bags and school supplies as well.. I cannot help but think this way because money is indeed so tight and if you really value money, you really would not waste it in just one bag? cmon... maybe thats what happen when you become so rich and famous..it all gets in your head and you forget about the millions of hungry filipinos.... sorry but this is how i really feel. oh well.

Well, we can't blame her, them. They are at their peak of success, well, at least Manny is. They are enjoying Pacman's fruits of labor. But yeah, this is really too much. Maybe she should start a charity or something. Maybe she already had. But as a mother of a Congressman, doing charity works should be one of her priorities and not these parties and dancing. There are lots of needy people in their town, she and Jinkee should start there. Instead of texting with Paris Hilton, Jinkee should start organizing her connections to help people and share their blessings.

Very sound advice. Partying is not as fulfilling as assisting in orphanages. I do hope someone whispers to Manny that he could utilize the popularity og his mother to tap the poor and educate them The masa can relate to Mommy D.

Hi there, i appreciate your effort in writing this. Mommy D became brat and boastful since Manny earned his fame and fortune. Why announce on national TV that she is getting a green Hermes bag worth a million bucks? who cares, anyway? I mean, she should not be telling these kind of things especially millions of people are suffering from poverty.... If I were her, I would just have a simple birthday celebration with my less fortunate brothers and sisters.... Learn to share your blessings Mommy D! And please, stop being arrogant! You are getting into my nerves. argh!

Yes, blessings must always be shared. They say that that is the only way blessings multiply. In Mommy D's case, all she has to do is to designate people to attend to the needy, especially the ones who crying out their hearts out of helplessness. That million buck bag could have helped in the liver transplant of a dying child.

That's their choice, they prefer to use it lavishly into some crappy bags that worth millions. Though i have a the right to disagree with her actions, it's her choice plain and simple. i think not all people in this country has guts to spend birthdays, and other celebrations with the poor. the reason really is that it's what she wants that counts. besides she had a hell life before his son became popular

Hello eileen, Does she have to care about undernourished children only because she is rich ? I believe she pays her taxes, so it is more the responsibility of the state to use the money got from her to help the poor inhabitants of your country than to herself. Believe it or no, but buying a Hermes bag helps poor people in my country : many Hermes leather goods, from slippers to bags, are made in a small factory in the countryside not far from where I live, by employees paid with a minimum salary who need this money to feed their families. Like you I think that medias would be more interesting if they were speaking of true problems than of birthday parties. They are the same everywhere, and a journalist would reply to your discussion that everyone knows the reality... but wants to dream.

How many people are really doing something by giving time or money to help others, or are doing benevolently something useful for the society. 5% ? 10% ? Alright, they have realized or they think that their lives need to have a meaning to be proud of them. But maybe the other 90% are also satisfied with their lives... The meaning of life is not the same for everybody.

I agree with you there when you said she should look back and to feed poor children after the event. Erap is a good friend of her because they've made a comedy movie a few years back I don't know the title I am not interested to know anyway. Every time I see a news about the Pacmom I feel irritated because their focus is more on the luxurious preparations she's making and not the true essence of the story. I came to understand that they're (mediamen) doing it to amuse people which is really not a good idea. It causes various reactions and some of it are not pleasing to the ears, the point? it teaches people and children an improper etiquette, So my point here now is more on Media overhauling and not the Pacmom because for me it's really a petty thing to talk about, can't we just leave them with the life they have now and instead focus ourselves on our own? people should not be jealous of them because it is just the result of Manny's great success,it is because of his determination and perseverance. such unimportant and petty tv feeds are not supposed and should not be aired anymore. For me it is really a bad display of news, I think the media folks are losing their morale. Using a person like the Pacmom just to amuse people is not really a good thing.

I am not a billionaire but I do feel that I have an obligation to my neighbors who are not as lucky as I am. I also feel that Mommy Dionisia has an obligation to her neighbors especially the ones that are hungry and deprived. I don't want to throw stones at her, I just want her to realize that what she is experiencing right now, all the lavish and luxury, is just an opportunity given by the Lord for her to help people. I wish she sees that before it is too late.

Hello Eileen, I have heard rumors that Manny already has a lot of business in the country and has provided jobs to a lot of Filipinos everywhere. Not to mention that the even has his own feeding program that is rarely seen by the media. but i guess i could say it's not enough, he could have constructed a school for "entrepreneurs" where he could teach future generation to start a business. That's her wasting her sons money to some freaking bag when it should be spent on some more livelihood and food for poor programs. am not sure why politicians are there in the first place.

I sometimes wish that i could have Manny's riches and treat my mother to a million bucks bag and multi million party, but if that would mean that she's going to go dancing in front of all those strangers that she calls friends then i have second thoughts, what the heck, they could probably be laughing behind her mediocre dancing... Having a good time is one thing but making a fool of ones self is another. But then, it's manny's hard earned money so i can't complain. All the best for Mommy D, I have the feeling that she has a good heart.

I have to agree and disagree. IF one has the means to spend, why not? Here's a simple logic, we earn to live, we earn to survive. Would we use our hard earn money to donate most of it to charity? It's the same from getting rags to riches. When they are going through the hardships to getting riches, how many of us really knows how tedious it is? Is it wrong for them to pamper themselves for their effort? I don't think so right? What i agree is that, being rich is no crime, but they need not make it into a big celebration. They might attract the wrong attention, and with the amount of riches, they can actually put aside a small amount for charity too.

Mommy Dionesia (I'm not being social) is certainly flying high. I have never seen any other woman near or in her age who celebrates her birthdays like she does. Granted, she has the money, she can afford it, she is the center of attention being the mother of a famous boxer and so other many more reasons why she is having this party. But sometimes I do wonder what she really thinks when she throws these parties. I mean, she does look happy...a dance routine, expensive presents, high-profile guests, and the press eating at the end of her hand...she is one lucky woman indeed. To tell you the truth, I liked the subtlety of your content/description/discussion. It made me throw back and made me think of what Mommy Dionesia (still not social) has been and what she will evolve into the unknown future. Sure, it's her party. She has every right to enjoy her life and all the blessings it brings but I think you addressed a very vital point in terms of giving back. Somehow, ordinary people expect their former class to at least help when a particular individual or family happen to get up in the social ladder. And I think it would not of good faith if a perosn flaunts wealth for all people to see. Another thought that crept in my mind is how the media actually covers this and how society accepts this kind of information. I don't know how Mommy Dionesia's former friends, neighbors and acquaintances think of her now. For Mommy Dionesia's part, she doesn't seem to care much at all...except when the subject is her dress and her Hermes bag.

Well, Mommy D is now old and she needs to enjoy her life to the fullest. We cannot blame them for doing such action. If they are happy to dance then dance to the fullest. They deserve to enjoy their life since they have their money. To help other people is not their responsibility. We cannot requires here to helps if she don't want to. But maybe she can help if the time comes she realized that she already contented on what she experienced and its time to do good things to others.

Well, that's her problem, even though the right things is what we want her to do, its really up to her of what she wanted to do. They have their money and whether we like it or not money is one of the important things here in earth and she can used it wherever she wants As long as she still lives.

A child running barefoot on the street, selling sampaguitas, a father desperately vending taho so he could have food for his family, a mother doing laundry so she could feed her children... Could we turn our back on them, and dance? There are many people lined up in the hospitals, most of them devastated, waiting for donations in tin cans, so their loved one could undergo a kidney transplant... The faces of the needy come in so many images. Even Manny Pacquiao recognizes that his greatest bout is to combat poverty. He can't do that if he allows his loved ones spend their money unwisely. Poverty and vanity do not jibe.

I guess she deserves it... Despite Manny's success, they remained humble. Whenever Manny goes home to General Santos, he donates money and groceries to all his Kababayan and I'm pretty sure that he's helping a lot of individuals, but he's not just so showy about it - which I think is fair enough. I saw the story of Mommy D and it moves me. I don't see the reason why I should hate or doubt her for being a party lover. I'm sure Mommy D knows that, for others, she's being labeled as a laughing stock, but she handles it well. She doesn't even care, because no matter how one pushes her down, she remained strong. Stronger as ever! The money that they're earning came from Manny's sweat and blood. He didn't stole it from the people. In fact, he's giving it to them. Thanks for a very entertaining letter eileenleyva.

I totally agree with you Eileen! In my opinion, Mommy Dionisia, though she may not accept it, has her head swollen already with bragging. Why does she have to mention how much the bag costs and how many dresses she have bought for her birthday? and those media people are really making an emphasis of the cost of the bag and the lavish party. It seems to me that they are already mocking her. Don't you think so too? However, i can understand her acquired fame now and she is truly enjoying it. People who were before haven't even seen her , are now friends with her! I just hope Mommy Dionisia will learn how to be humble again.

I'm really happy for the Pacquiao family. They are being blessed continously because they are good and hard working people. Manny deserve to treat the rest of his family expensive bags, houses, jewelry and etc. He has the right to do this as he earned the money used to buy this stuffs. They also have the right to spend their own hard earned money to throw an expensive party. After all it is their money.

I know of rich people who never threw lavish parties, even if they could afford such extravagant parties... Instead, they bring their children to institutions such as Boy's Town of Girl's Home on weekends, and there they mingle with the deprived kids. The Pacquiaos has all the right to spend Manny's hard earned money, but money, at all times, must be spent wisely.

In our province here in Iloilo, most of the poor family here when they get rich someday, example if their son is now an Overseas Seaman, they usually spend money as sky as the limit..... since first time in their life, they earned that big enough... totally different on the Chinese rich seller here in iloilo, even thou they have plenty of money.... they still used to clothes simple, rugged, why???? because they are already born in a silver spoon.....
