can YM archived messages be traced?

i am just curious if is there a way where your yahoo messenger archived messages will be traced. a friend of mine told me that there was a certain application where you can open someone else' archive messages even if you do not have his/ her YM password. i just wanted to know how true it is?

Yes i think there is such an application but i don`t remember the name.The messages are stored on your PC and yes they can be opened by someone else using the right application.

I didn't know such an application existed. Thats kind of scary that someone could access my conversations without even having my password. THe thought makes me not want to use messenger anymore. I might have to look it up and see what the application is called and how it actually works against someone.
