How do you plan a diet?

Vegetables - Vegetables are good companions when you are on a diet

Hi my friends from Mylot: I have started a diet 4 days ago and I'm planning to keep it for at least a month. When I start a diet I take it seriously: I design a schedule with the food I am planning to eat. I also combine my diet with two sessions of exercise, once at 6 am and the second at 10 pm before going to sleep. It really helps me to lose weight, look good and also for my health. You need discipline to keep a diet. You have to say no to every other plan that makes you break your diet. For example, my mum invited me to go for a lunch and eat lasagna. OMG I really love lasagna is so delicious but I have to be strong and I said no to this invitation. I am very strict on my diet. And what about you guys? - How do you plan your diets? -What do you do to follow a diet from the beginning to the end? -Do you have any advice to share with us to make your diet more effective? Thanks for sharing. Have a nice Mylot/ diet day . ALVARO

Oh No! You had to say No to your beloved Mom?! Just because of a diet? That makes me sad. I wish I could have Lasagna with my mom, I lost her in 2005. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give you a guilt trip.Anyway. I never diet. But if I did , I would have started After the Lasagna. Be Bad Just one more time and then be good. but see I can't think like that. The food I eat Has to be what I want to eat ,Period! I rather not eat than eat something Just because it is part of a diet And " good for me" . So I never diet. I want to wish you luck on this diet. Be Well.

That sounds easy to start after the lasagna and to be bad just one time then be good but once you start you really can not break it just for one time. There are just so many "this one time" when you are on a diet so you really can't just say after this else your diet would never get started, dieting is really hard.

Hi sarah: I am sorry for hearing that. You don't have to tell me this, I actually felt guilty for sayin no to my mom She looked quite dissapointed for that but last night I have talked to her, she was like "I am sorry you couldn't go because the lasagna was so yummy" and I was "Mom, don't make me think about that" and we just laugh. I know I have lost a good moment not only because my mom is really good at cooking but because it was a special invitation. But I wanted to continue with my diet. If I stop once I can't continue because I know the next day I'll break it once again. @existwithme That's right. When you start a diet, in my opinion, you better keep it until the end or you'll lose your time. ALVARO

hi! i envy your uptake on self-discipline alvaro. it would be very rare for me to refuse lasagna especially when everyone in my family knows how much i love it. i've read in some health literature that for a diet to work, it has to be designed to a person's lifestyle. many people do not stick to a diet plan because either they lack the will in the first place or they lack the motivation to continue. when one sets a goal, it has to be realistic. while i was in an online chat with a mylot friend yesterday, i did mention to her that i'll be doing a weight loss plan for about a month starting this wednesday. the first week is about cleansing. as for the food, an increased intake of greens and vitamin c and mineralized water. as for exercise, an increased amount of walks in the mornings and late afternoons. and i'll throw in 2-3 massage sessions per week. and i plan to make it my routine even beyond the 30 days. cleansing prepares the field and it's for better absorption. the greens for fiber and vitamins and better elimination. vitamin c to boost immune system and as a natural anti-oxidant. mineralized water for better hydration. but now because of your post, i'm thinking of starting the cleansing earlier. like today. hehe goodluck to your diet plan alvaro.

that willower is very admirable. sadly lacking in most people in a diet program. results are truly rewarding especially when you know the sacrifices and compromises you had to make to achieve them... that's when you know it's all worthwhile. yes, it's better to eat less portions of the food you love to eat, rather than eat foods you don't even like. i hope it's not a cheesy seven-layered lasagna you said no to the other day with your mom. lol jk! because i know i'll be having a very difficult time refusing if it was me in your shoes. lol

Hi myles narvaez: It was! I want to stay on my diet but my heart wished to say yes to that delicious lasagna- my mom is not a chef but has made different cook courses and she has that special touck in the kitchen, everything she makes is delicious. ALVARO

Hi myles narvaez: Thank you very much for your kind wishes. I agree with you. Actually that was one of the reasobns why many people fail on their diets- they rae not being realistic and they try to eat things they don't love to eat so it's a big sacrifice and even if they succeed on their diet, later they regain the extra weight because their bad habits remain there. I prefer to plan a diet eating the things I love but that are healthy at the same time and to eat small portions and that's it. I also enjoy when I see my results. Sometimes like that day where I have to say no to eating lasagna, this is a big challenge to continue with your diet but when you see the results you feel really proud of yourself because you are working for what you really want and also your willpower grows deeper. Hi Java: Oh really? In my case is actually the opposite. teh first days of a diet are the hardest ones for me. If I can deal with them I won't let myself fall in temptation. For example now I have been a month on a diet and I'm planning a second month because I want to look good for my birthday on March 31st ALVARO

Hi jak: In my opinion, the most difficult part of diet are the first days but after the first week it's easier to keep your diet. At least that's what happend in my own experience. When you are on a diet you have to focus on the goal you want and never give up. ALVARO

Hi jak: Even it seems difficult, if you really want to stay healthier you can make it. As i mentioned before, the most difficult part is to keep your promise during the first days and avoiding temptation. ALVARO

Hi Starsailover, I also am on a diet and to achieve this I have to manage my environment also. So when I go out or meet people I meet them where you can not eat. When i meet someone else in their home, I will be there not during diner. So they will not ask me to join. At work I only join with a drink only a soda or something else healthy. So thats the evironment. For my planning with food I eat 6 times little meals around the whole day. Between evry meal there is 2 ours left to keep the metabolisme going on. Evrything is healthy and keep the diner light. This is for me so easy to do. Hope you have something out of this, good luck with your diet.

Hi delicious: I think that's a very important tip we should take into account because our friends and general people around us can be an influence and are the reason why we decide to quit a diet. I am usually carefully about these situations when people would invite you to eat when you can't. Thanks for your wishes. have a nice day. ALVARO

hello Alvaro, That's the power of diet "self-discipline" Without that self-discipline,you can never attain what you really want. So many people trying to lose weight, but fail because of lack of self-discipline. Food cravings and mind setting to postponed their diet gives them a hard time. I know how to control myself when i am determined enough to lose weight. A little add-on with exercise will do,but eating habit is the best way for me to lose diet. So,what's your desired weight, and body built that you really wanted to have my friend? As i can see you're not chubby...how about going to gym for some abs

Hi jaiho: According to my weight and height I am not overweight but I'd love to lose some weight to stay healthier. At this moment I am weighing 74 kilos, I want to lose this 4 kilos. I am doing exercise everyday. What can I say, my weight is good but not ideal. I am sure after 20 days I'll be ok, then I'll eat the normal things but with more control of myself for some 20 more days and that's it. ALVARO

I've had some success in the past couple of years with losing weight. However, for me I've found that it is better to moderate what I am eating than eliminating things from my diet. This means that if I would like to have a piece of pizza, I can have that piece of pizza, but I need to know that I have to stop after one as opposed to eating until I am absolutely stuffed. I was able to lose about 15% of my body weight in just a few months with this method.

Hi dorannm win: That's a great advice. Sometimes we forget to have control over the food we eat. We should eat what we need to stay healthy and not all that we want. This really helps me after my diet, because my proposal is to eat what I want but with moderation. ALVARO

When it is a do or die situation as it happened to me when I was bed resting and my cholesterol had gone up because of that I left no stone unturned till I brought my weight and cholesterol down to the desired level. It is possible when one has a goal to reach.

Hi star, No problem here. When one has no other choice, eating is just a matter of survival. I always get amazed by people who can eat anything they want to the point of getting overweight. Not on my case. I have to struggle all day to get even the barest thing to eat and anything I can lay my hands on, I eat: left over foods, vegetables from the surroundings, root crops from the mountains, fish in the rivers which get harder to catch as the days go by. In my case, there's no planning a diet. I just eat what I can get. Just the barest necessities, that's all I've got, no more no less.

Hi rog: I am shocked after reading your answer. Your life is really hard I have to say. It's sad that you can't even chose the food you want to eat. I am not overweight, it's just that I want to improve my health eating the right things. Anyway, thanks for your answer. ALVARO

Hi lily fang: Don't give up? What about taking small portions of food and take a long time to eat them. Try to fix an hour of your schedule to some sports activities. In fact if you can do some exercises or practice a sport with some of your friends this will motivate you to keep doing it. Good luck. ALVARO

In psychology we learned that diets are a sure-fire way to actually gain weight. If you're constantly telling yourself you can't have sweets or a certain type of food, eventually you will break down and go on a binge, causing you to gain weight. If you're interested in losing weight, you just eat the foods you like while making healthier decisions as well as controlling your portions. It also helps if you restrict your eating to only the kitchen. That way, your body gets accustomed to eating only in the kitchen and you won't snack and munch all throughout the house. In addition to portion control, exercise always helps too. Ideally, you'd want to burn more calories than you consume. Try and plan exercise activities that'll fit into your daily routine. Good luck!!

Hi courk nee: Well I actually call it a diet because I'm taking more care about the things I am eating but I am not always thinking about the things I can't eat. I try to enjoy all my meals and I have designed my diet so I am not making any sacrifice. I also combine it with exercise that's also something good. Thanks for sharing with me the kitchen tip. I must admit that sometimes I was eating on other places of my house when I was hungry and that's not good at all. ALVARO

Hi ando: I am not sure about how healthy your diet plan could be. I need to ask you if the weight you lose come back some weeks later or not? Your body needs food. I think a doctor wouldn't advice you to follow this diet because it's too strict and you are not fulfilling your body needs ALVARO

The kind of diet I have chosen will not make me slim down in a second, but will make the kilos I shed stay out. It´s called the mditerranean diet and it allows for almost everything in small doses but is centered in veggies, fruits, legumes, fish and nuts. I shed a little over 1 kilo and a half and hop that I´ll continue with it.

I checked it first at the web and read what the Mayo Clinic said about it. They vouched for it so it´s safe.
