My sister is a teacher who handles all ages of students class. For any listening activity at school, office or home..she says age is important factor besides an interesting topic in any lecturer session. She use to make her lectures based on the age of students or listeners in meeting. And when i ask her, what if there are mixed age groups, she says balance your speech for both of them. I feel Interesting topic can make audience listen irrespective of their age? Or both age and interesting topic keeps audience by their side?

I believe she is right. A great topic is always essential but also necessary is the age relation to the topic. For example you cannot bring up politics to children because it is way over the top for them, however if you gear a bit of fun into it and admiration you can certainly spark up interest, to a certain extent. Is the best way I can describe it.

Hi HWG, Yes you are right. Age is important factor though in almost all tasks we do. A conversation at home, with kids, school or office, it depends whom you are addressing and at same time make it interesting to attract the interest of those who listen.

I do think she knows what she is talking about. I think that you have to take that into consideration when you do a speech or class.....

Hi Jillhill, Yes since she is at school so she considers the speech at school is common with all other places. Sometimes they may differ from place to place, audience to audience. Understanding the minds of audience matters lot, even at home as well.
