selling articles vs. writing for content mills

Hi, I've been writing for content mills for quite some time now and it really has become quite tiring to be doing all that work and to receive $1 for a 500 word article, sometimes even less. I've heard about people being able to sell their articles on sites like the warrior forum and some articles fetch around $10 for 500 words. I was just wondering if any of you experienced selling and article you created. I just think that writing articles and selling them would be better than writing for content mills that really do not pay much at all.

Hi akonangato, I am full time employed at a content mill, and yes, it's draining the life, and the creativity, out of me. (However, the payment is way higher than 1 dollar / 500 words, so at least that's good.) I'm also trying to establish some websites of my own and monetize them, and it seems to be working, but it takes a lot of time. So my suggestion for you is to keep your work with the content mills, at least part time, while working on your sites. For me, it's very relaxing to write an article on a topic I really like, even if it's just one per day.

I sure hope that I can find a content mill that pays more than a dollar per article. There are a lot out there but unfortunately the ones that pay good rates are only accepting applicants from the US, UK or Canada. I think that the content mills here in the Philippines are making a fortune out of the local writers. Thanks and all the best to us all!

Just think about this: Do you want to build your own business or you want to contribute to someone else's business, while they keep most of the profits? The ones who profit by operating content mills are the actual owners, since they take as much commission as they want. While these programs are great to get started with little to no money, take this step as a learning phrase when you discover how to write optimal content intended for the cyberspace users and improve your writing to a higher level (even if it is good, there is always space for improvement). Therefore, once you gain enough knowledge on how things work, don't hesitate to put up your own website, or sell your articles without someone standing between you and your clients. WarriorForum is not solely an amazing source of information, but it also offers the possibility to sell your writings to those who are really willing to pay lots of dollars for quality articles. I'm not good at writing at all, it wouldn't be a good idea if I would begin to sell articles written by me, however there's a huge market potential at WarriorForum. You can try Digital Point forum as well.

Hi! I completely understand what you're saying. Writing for content mills is really nothing different from having a regular job. We work while the owners make big money from our efforts. I've also been looking at digital point and think that both forums are great places to start selling articles or at least get writing gigs that pay a bit more. Thanks!

Yeah I can understand how you must feel, but I agree with all the other advise in this comments. Try to write your own blog. Find an interest that really interests you something you feel passionate about and start it that way. Eventually you will expand on this and earn a decent living. Believe in yourself and know that you can do it.

We both are sailing in the same boat. I has been more than a year that I am writing and writing and writing nonstop. The thought of getting mentally tired struck me just this morning and I happened to read the discussion now - around 4-5 hours later. I also plan to expand and work on my blog. I am already running one with some success. But I am thinking of giving it a dot com or dot org status soon. Please let's get in touch and plan for the future if you are really interested. I want a partner to get going. I hope I have found one.

Hi! I'm glad that you have had some measure of success with one of your blogs. I also think that a .com or a .dot org will be beneficial to your site. If there is one thing that I've learned from all the research that I've done on monetizing blogs and writing for a living is that writers need to rely on fellow scribes in order to succeed. I'll be happy to share a piece of my brain with you from time to time and hope that you can succeed even more. Just let me know. Regards,
