My dream garden

rooftop garden - garden on roof top
India

Since childhood, I am very fond of gardens. We had one flower garden in front of home and another back side, but when we made the new house, they are gone; a small garden with flower pots is there at the front only. I use the fresh flowers for worshipping my gods and goddesses; I am so sad to see that they are stolen most of the mornings. Hubby made one garden on the roof top, it is just 2 feet wide, 3 feet deep, touching the boundary walls, filled with earth, I have planted some flowers, papaya , tomato plants there, it has some green vegetable like spinach too. Problem is, I and hubby Professor find difficulty in going there using flight of stairs. We have another patch of land 40 feet by 20 feet, this August we are going to construct another house there, with a roof top garden, it will be just one storey, so we can go to that garden daily, atleast once. Do you have a garden; you have flowers and fruits there? What is your view on having a garden at roof top? Please respond and share your views. Kalyani ‘Namastey’. . God bless you to enjoy a lucky day ahead.

When I moved into my new apartment I partly chose it because it has a small back yard. I have made a small vegetable gardent out there. My plants are blooming, but no food yet! I also have quite a few flowers. It has been really good for me to work in it for a little while every morning. i push my son's chair out on the patio and talk to him while I work!

hello kal, i am going to start my own. i just had a place in front of the house where i can grow them. it is on top of a canal where i concreted the top so that the canal flows continuosly under it. there i will make a little garden in pots. i was interested seeing my mom harvesting bitter gaurd and tomatoes and onions in pots. she is growing pepper too and chili but it has not given her produce yet. other than that she also has flowering plants and other herbs. she is not aging as i see. she blooms like her flowers. have a nice day. ann

Ever since my husband and I bought our house three years ago, it has been our goal to tear out all of the grass in the front yard and convert it to a European style garden. We've only started to make it a reality this past week, however. We planted an iris, a couple of lilies and a few other things (I can't remember what they are). We also have a beautiful tea-rose bush in the front yard. I want to fill the entire yard with beautiful flowers because gardens remind me a lot of my grandfather who I really cared about.

Hi! Wow, a garden at the roof top? I can never imagine that before, our roof are slanted and it is not possible to plant any plants on a slanted roof and I can never climb up there since it is really high and dangerous. I like gardening too. I used to stay a the village where I have plenty of earth that I can plant whatever I like just like you. I used to plant flowers, green vegetable, spices and fruits. But ever since I move to a terrace house, I can only plant those in a flower pot. I still plant some green vegetable but it is on a flower pot, and the quality of the vegetable are not as good as those that I used to plant on the earth. If I can get a land to plan whatever I want, I will be really happy about it.

We do have gardens in our birth area but most are fruit bearing trees and some other plants but not ornamental. I am working in a park so there are lots of trees and plants around. I just cant have that garden in my city address because I am living in the 3rd floor of a small condominium unit. How I wish I can have one.

You know, i love gardens too!! sadly we don't have enough space to make in any garnen since we live on the top floor of an apartment, dad says in future, we can build a garden on the roof top and i'm like no it won't feel that natural to me. I don't know why? i just don't like that idea. I want it to be in front of my house or something like that. I want a garden bigger than the house i own, with huge trees surrounding me. It'd be so great. I'll feel so awesome if that happened, i'll try to make it happen!

nice roof top garden friend, hubby is really a very creative fellow, well we have a garden at the back of the house where I pray or meditate when I feel spent ( I posted a picture in my discussion about rain collecting). We also have plants planted outside of our property. I have a vacant lot where I plant plants for food as vegetables at the back and I use it also too feed my pet turkeys and chicken. I'm also building one now also on the lot that will copy a small tropical rain forest similar to what I saw when climbing mountains here when I was young, I'm using old fisherman's nets to recycle, to simulate jungle conditions, I'm quite obsessed with orchids, air plants like ferns and bromiliads, vines probably God willing I will post about this next year when I make it grow and abundant

Hello Mrs. Professor! We do have a garden and I could say it's enough for us. My father has a green thumb so our plants and trees are all looking fine and bears sweet fruits. We have mango, guava, calamnsi, banana and malunggay trees in our garden. The fruits it produces are so sweet that most of our neighbors wants to have some of it. We do give them our fruits, whoever wants to 'cause they say when you give the fruits of your trees to others whole heartedly, your trees will bear sweet fruits and I believe it. We also have some herbal trees here,my mom and dad needs it for their health. We also have santan flowers,my baby is fond of those! Regarding rooftop garden,I guess it's fine since all the plants will have enough sunlight it needs. Goodluck to your upcoming new garden Mrs. Professor! See yah and have a great day!
