Seems that your not an animal lover and I respect your perspective. Pets are considered property according to the law so many people don't look at the bigger picture. Animals have always been a part of the human existence. First of all animals provide sustenance for humans. Secondly, animals remind us of how fragile our domination of the environment is. Finally, animals, mostly felines and lupines have become important to our spiritual well being. Animals can be therapeutic to many. Hence laws protecting seeing eye dogs and other service animals. Dogs for examply in my experience have filled the human need for companionship. They can become part of the family. There are so many animals that have made contributions in our history. For example Horses and pigeons not to mention that they have sustained us for thousands of years. We like animals are part of the biodiversity of this planet. Each of us has a place and a function. For many, animals are more precious than contact with people. After all, if left alone, animals will not steal from us, are loyal, and provide a lifetime of companionship. Can we say that for all people? People do come first in the scheme of things. But we should never forget just how important animals are to our existence.

I'm not sure. I know that I love certain animals more than others. I have never really compared them to a human as far as caring.

I surely do. I have done so many things for my pets which ordinarily they are not done. When one of my pets had to get spayed and she meddled with her wound, I kept her in my room for a month keeping a vigil on her.My pets are fed the best food and on time. I will never leave them alone in the house at any cost. I even go across to my neighbours if I find that they are not treating their animals properly.

there is a lot done for people but sometimes people do not want help and their pride gets in the way. Animals can still cry and want to live. There is equal effort for animals and people right now and there is only so much we can do.---meaning the people who actually go out there and do something about it not the ones who still back and complain about how not enough is being done. There isn't enough of us maybe you should think of that.
