My very own "Night at the Museum" evening!!

June 9, 2011 1:00pm CST
Well this time tomorrow night I will be locked in at the science museum in london for a sleepover with lots of other mad adults and I have no idea how many children!! I myself am taking six children! Two hours travelling there and not forgetting negotiating the underground! The children are all so excited. To be honest so am I. It promises to be a fantastic evening. I have no idea what we will get up to, but the evening starts at 6.45, workshops and events until 11.10! Supposedly this is when we will sleep amongst the exhibits... I'm expecting to get no sleep what so ever! Breakfast at 6.45 followed by a film and more activities until 10 when the museum opens to the public. The only thing that is worrying me... I won't be able to have a cigarette from 6.45pm to 10am.... ahhhhhhhh!!!! That's a long time as you smokers I'm sure will all agree! So what's the most exciting thing you have done with your children and were you more excited than them? lol Me x

Wow, sounds fantastic. I envy you. The most exciting thing with me was when I camped outside the house with my brothers. It was when we were children, our parents let us erect a tent in the front yard and we camped there for three days. Well, it may not that adventurous, but we were happy. Were were all under 10 years old at the time...

Maybe you forgot the times when you were a child yourself...

My kids like the idea of camping in the garden... I can't really see the point myself... definately prefer the comfort of my own bed!

"Supposedly this is when we will sleep amongst the exhibits." Science and exhibits this combination gives me a creepy feeling and you will be sleeping amongst these exhibits. I am more worried for the kids. Whose idea was this any way. Never heard of it before.Do come back and tell us all about it. Can't think of anything as weird as this or was it really weird?

Why are you worried for the kids? I got the offer of a ticket to go and asked my lad who jumped at the chance. All his mates are excited too. x

Is this a regular thing or what? Tell us how it came about please. I haven't been in the Science museum since my schooldays. I would love to spend the night there as I never had time to see everything on my previous visits.

The science museum and the history museum do these sleepovers quite often. Some are for schools and clubs. Others are open to the public. The best idea if you are interested is to give them a ring and ask for details. x

Hoho!!! My days as a father (i can't be a mom!!) haven't started yet! But, when I was a child, my mother used to take me with her to her friend's places. Obviously, she was much more excited than I was! I remember, during one of those trips, my mother rode a bicycle! That was something! In those days a woman riding a bicycle was unheard of in my place. It was a special event!! I was kind of frightened!!! Partly, because I thought she might get hurt in an accident or something and partly for her excitement!
